About Me

I have had type 1 brittle Diabetes for over 30 yrs. I was 24 yrs. old at the time. Many advances have occurred since that time. When I first became Diabetic I was neurotic about it. I never relaxed I was always stressed out.I tried to be perfect with it all the time.Until I came to terms with the fact that there is no perfect.
I have over the course of time developed a lot of patience with myself and the disease.
I am currently single and live in South Florida on the beach.
I spend most of my time taking care of my Diabetes and over all health. I am very much into holistic practices and natural health. I am particular about my diet and eat as much natural or unprocessed foods as possible. I have always had and still have recurring issues with low sugars. I also have hypoglycemic unawareness which is sometimes very stressful!! I have to practice meditations and stress free living everyday because i find that the disease itself is stressful and after having it for 31 yrs. 24/7 with no break from it I can easily get burned out from the ongoing everyday drill! I have had to modify my lifestyle a lot to maintain better mental, emotional health.
I am a very open and positive person and very willing to help others.

Hi Paula, No I do not grow orchids. I saw that there were people putting their flower photos up, so I thought I would follow. We have a beautiful Botanical Garden in Atlanta. I also have hypoglycemic unawareness, most of the time. Some times I feel it and sometimes I don't. This has only happened in the last 5 years. I was getting to be a danger to society! Now I use CGM. Years ago, I took several classes in metaphysics etc. I kept trying to leave my body. One night I was meditating and suddenly I felt as if I had stepped off a curb and there was nothing was there! It startled me so much, as I was trying to have a blank mind, that I immediately awoke. It actually scared me so much, I didn't try again. I might take it back up. I think I can handle it better now. Have a good day. Mark

I do not have great fluctuations since I am adhering to a diet based on the same amounts of carbs, fats, proteins and adjust my insulin if I need to based on less exercise, higher carbs or illness. So far it has worked most of the time.

I split my dose of lantus morning and night and find that it works better for me. I take novolog. I am on a very strict low carb, low fat diet requiring less insulin.

I totally agree; there is no way you can control this disease without testing. I have found that by researching and learning as much as you can, you can be most proactive. My body is constantly changing and its needs vary tremendous from month to month day to day.

Hi Paula,
I love exercise as it helps me control my diabetes better and also relieves any tension I may be feeling. Hope all is well.

Just read your history and I need something to address my issues of late. What type of meditation do you use.

42 years of this crap and now life issues are destroying me.
