I'm thankful for all the stories of survival here and elsewhere online. Especially all the examples of diabetics with hardships far greater than mine that still have a smile on their face and the humor to make me laugh. I realize I have nothing to complain about if Ron Wilde, who went blind, had a foot amputated and a kidney transplant because of diabetes can stay positive. I found his autobiography, Who Turned Out The Lights? on…See More

For my first 50 years, I guzzled beer, and ate anything I chose. Then I was told I had an irreversible autoimmune disease, a form of Type 1 diabetes called LADA, and that the only road led to a daily shot in the stomach. I said "Hell No. I'll find another way." And I have.

I am Anecdotal

I am Anecdotal

the tangled web of variables I weave

gives shivers to the evidence-based

supplements, diet, meditation, oh my!

which one prodded this pancreas to produce again?

I could say I’m sorry to not have spent the years required

to have double-blind tested

each and every part of my solution...

but I’m…

Hello,

Thank you for the info. I purchased the book on Amazon.

I am just trying to figure out how to take this journey with what type of external support. I would like to find a doctor that is supportive. This is not me, this is a 15 year old boy. So, I want to make sure I am making wise decisions and teaching him along the way. He does not want to own it yet. He says "mom, guys don't want all the science and detail, just tell me what to do."

First things first, by lowering his carb intake and finding replacements.

Feel free to connect me to the other mom's that have contacted you. Feel free to share what you can within this group.

Thank you!

Would like the support of others here.

Most important is that we find and Endo supportive of what we are doing. Have any of you found one?

I am located in the Chicagoland area.

Thank you!! Can't find a good Dr., Mine prescribed new insulin last time. Can't tell him I'm not taking any meds. Finally found control of high fbg. Holidays were a big problem, can't cheat on diet.

Oh I get the work thingy. I don't work now but boy when I did I hardly had any time to do anything. LOL!

Welcome to the family!! On this forum you will learn so much. Most of all you will learn that you are not alone. Everyone here is supportive and will provide answers to your questions. Search the site for answers. Read the discussions and blogs for information. There are videos to help you understand diabetes and its treatment. Most of all there is family to talk to and even to vent to, if needed. Welcome home.
