I read it about three weeks ago. It is an excellent book. I love reading in story form. Realizing it was fiction kinda bummed me out. If we could only realize God's presence can be as real as it was for Mack. There were many good sayings in the bo...

A little bit about me...

I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this but I wanted to share a little bit about myself. I am a diabetic of 37 yrs., have been married for 20 yrs. have seven beautiful children and a very busy life. I am a stay at home mom. My husband is a police officer specializing in domestic violence. My oldest son is in th US Army Reserves. My family is my life. I love the Lord and my church and enjoy helping in the nursery.
My father had and brother has type 1 diabetes. So far I have no complications due to diabetes. The Lord allowed me to carry all seven of my children to term with no problems. Two of them were C-section and the others natural births. Two were home birthed with a midwife. They are all healthy with no diabetes with the exception of my 15 yr. old. He developed diabetes when he was 9 and is going through a tough time controlling his BG. Between eating to feed his growing body and trying to feed insulin at the same time it has been really hard. I struggled with guilt thinking that it was my fault that he developed diabetes. I know that all the health books say that diabetes skips a generation but I don't really believe it. I still have a hard time not feeling I caused it but there is nothing I can do about it except help him develop good habits in caring for himself.
I found this site looking for a support group in my home town. I would love to meet up with veteran diabetics who aren't suffering from blindness, kidney failure or loss of limbs. I need encouragement at this point in my life. I am trying to overcome a time in my life where I was in denial about this whole disease and the results it can bring to me.
If you do choose to respond to me via this site or my Myspace/Facebook page, be assured I will get back with you. I am slow to respond back sometimes.
Thanks for letting me be a part of this group.

Hi Erin,
Thanks for being my friend!! I was on shots for 5 1/2 of the pregnancies. I was put on the pump during the fifth one. She was my smallest baby too. I love being on the pump and hope I never have to discontinue its use.
It's been helpful being on the board here and seeing all these folks have some of the same discouragements as me and how they handle it.
Have a great Christ filled season,
Sherry

Wow! 7 kids? How many of the pregnancies were with the pump? I've been T1 for 36 1/2 years (dx'd 5/21/72) and have 2 kids. One pregnancy on syringes and one on the pump.
thanks for the friend invite.
