"Sigelopisan, are you sure you're Type 2? You're describing a very common pattern for LADA/Type 1's. I was misdiagnosed as Type 2 and did fine on oral meds for 15 months when my blood sugars started going through the roof. Can you get…"

how to choose which insuline

Hello friends,I'm type 2 for around 2 years (diagnosed at July 2010) and recently I sees my BG become uncontrollable. For the past 2 months, I think i drop weight like 2-3 kgs.I'm thinking about taking insulin. I asked my Doc about the insulin and he ask me to stay away from insulin and keep changing my oral medication. I dont see the oral medication help.Which insulin should I go first. The long acting or the rapid insulin? Also, should I go directly with dose calculated with 0.2 x body…See More

There are several mixed emotions here with all members when it comes to diagnosis...depression, anger, fear, and some like you that are appreciative and are actually looking at the "brighter side of things" I was really depressed at first...I knew I was prone to diabetes...having a loooong line of relatives who has it. My Mom is a dietary nutritionist...kept our family pretty much on the top of health... I just came to realize that it is something, though no cure yet, can be managed and one can have a pretty happy, healthy normal life...sometimes even healthier than the none diabetic ones :)Im glad you quit smoking though...a lot here have a hard time doing so...even WITH diabetes.

Noodles and rice...Nope I have NOT given up on them LOL I married an American (10 years now)...so bread is a staple. But my roots are from the Philippines, I crave rice every so often. I limit it though... half a cup...about 60 grams carb. I try to limit my carb intake to a maximum of 120-150 grams a day. Most carb intake is in the morning where I do most activities. Oh...I also love love to cook and bake LOL Does not help now, does it LOL

Sometimes, we may be on a "honeymoon" stage that our pancreas still producing a bit of insulin... And yes, LADA is a possibility. By the way? do you have relatives/family with diabetes? One thing that helped me was counting my carb intake...something that we Asians love LOL!

Hi there Sigel! Thanks for the friend add...always wonderful to have a new friend. Im also a type 2 on oral meds. I kinda peeked on your posts...so awesome you weight lift...I do 30-40 minutes cardio exercise daily too... May I ask how much is your met dosage already? I see youre having some problems with your A1C...There may be a number of factors that may be considered... Have you had a test done called GAD antibody tests? Just to make sure you are indeed insulin resistant. Remember also that A1C is an average read of 3 months bg...how is your fasting and daily readings?
