My amazing journey with the 'beetis

Posted on September 20, 2008 at 9:30pm 0 Comments

You can read the whole story of my "diabetic journey" as it unfolds, at my personal blog. There's a lot of other unrelated stuff there too so if you want to read only the diabetes-related posts, use the search box at the top left – just type in "diabetes" and they'll all come up. Except the first two entries, which are here: Day 1: Diagnosis, and Day 2: Controlled… Continue

I love your picture. Have you ever seen the books by Joost Elffers? He has pictures of vegetables that look like animals.
One book is Baby Food, How Are You Peeling, One Lonely Seahorse, and he has some other big books on foods looking like things!

Thanks for your comments. I actually toned down what I wanted to say because I didn't want to risk offending anyone. Agree with you 100%! Corporate welfare is the rule of the day & has been for decades. But, if anyone dares suggest that children shouldn't go to bed hungry & that there will always be people who need help & they should receive help, than people grab their wallets & scream socialism. Socialism is not a dirty word to me:) We've got deep rooted hypocrisy in our country.

i can never have enough friends. hope you don't mind my writing tina over the long sweetpotater. although sweetpotaotes are my favorite tater. i'm heading up to buffalo in a couple of hours for the gastric bypass seminar. going to find out if it's something for me. sure it's a hard road to go, but, i'm at a point where i need the help. and if i'm lucky bypassing the small intestine will also reverse my diabetes. i'm not countiing on it though,. i'm more interested in losing weight. but i'll take it if it works out that way. wish me luck.

hi sweetpotater,
i know just how you feel, but something tells me that we will never be able to convince the lugheads of the world that they are doing a disservice to t-2's. i can't tell you how upset it makes me to hear that even though i never knew i even could get diabetes, it's all my fault that i did. i have struggled with my weight all my life. even when i was thin i was told i was fat, so it was never good enough. i guess i gave up. when you are 105 pounds and you are told that your fat what's next? i have been through more then anyone of those people have ever known and i will probably never tell them the half of it. stress, emotional abuse and more. it's no wonder i kept getting fat no matter how hard i tried. if they had walked a mile in my shoes maybe they would understand but it won't happen until it happens to them. i'm not saying that i'm not taking responsibility of my diabetes and trying to get better control. but i was doing the best i could before i found out i had t-2. i was following the pyramid diet and tht was what i was suppose to be doing. i still gained weight. i don't see how it's my fault, and i won't feel quilty over it. i will do my best to get control over it. that's all anyone can do. you might as well say that it's our fault that summer has turned into fall. your right why blame anyone, just help them get to the next step. what is the phrase. let he who cast the first stone.....
