not about diabetes

Posted on November 28, 2010 at 10:52pm 0 Comments

winter storm blew in from the north, we live right on the north end of the island so when storms roll in from the north we are right there on the bow of the boat so to speak. sounded pretty violent out side could't see anything except salt spray as it hit the windows. no lights just the wood stove for heat and the wind can find all the little holes in the house one that I can't find when I look for them in the summer. we do not often think about how far north we are in the seattle area. sure… Continue

sometimes rant

just t learning about using the technology, I started this rant on the what are you doing comment place and now I have found my way here. Hassling with insurance lately. It pushes my face into the whole being diabetic thing Yes I am fortunate to live in the twenty first century. Continuous glucose monitoring, insulin pumps, laser photoocoagulation, dialysis, high tech insulin. We are fortunate if we can find ways to access/pay for it. Life is stressful enough without test strips, batteries,… Continue

Hi Thomas...Naw, you are not flakey, no worries my friend!
Gee, that could not be more true...what you were saying about how you read that our blood sugars do odd things for no reason. I really get frustrated with that! I hope you are feeling well! Take good care of yourself!!!

It's great that you have a doctor who is Type 1. My endos aren't, but I had a CDE that was and she and I were pregnant at the same time. It was such a great help. She was a pumper as well. Thanks for the compliments on the screen name. I chose this because I feel this is what I am trying to achieve in my life...peace with my life, the struggle diabetes brings it, my family that I try to raise and of course...world peace!! I fall terribly short. :)

Haha! No, I don't live in Antarctica. Many of us here just don't like to give out certain information. There seems to be a growing diabetes community there!! I live in the US. Hope you find what you are looking for here. Perhaps I have much to learn from you being you have had this for 43 years. Btw, I'm a Minimed pumper too. :)

I think you got me and Marie confused there. I've had Type 1 for 37 years I think Marie is the one who's had it for 42 years. Oh you will love it here. You can pass down what you have had to live thru to the younger diabetics here. I know I would have LOVED a site like this one when I was a teen trying to be "normal" I wouldn't have felt sooooo alone. But now we can help those youngesters out so they won't feel that wat. Like I said this is a GREAT site!!!

I never would have tried pumping but for all the personal info people shared with me here. It really made me believe it was the right thing for me. I laughed at your comments about testing. Because I decided on the Ping, I will be switching test strip brand. I asked my CDE to go heavy handed on the strips because I know I will be testing constantly. One positive thing about diabetes is that it offers many outlets for the expression of my otherwise contained OCD. :)

I have found this site to be super supportive. It's nice to have a place chock full of people who share similar experiences and challenges.

Oh I totally understand! I was VERY cautious about the site at first, now that I've learned that almost everyone is here to help, I've given in more. Anytime just come on over to my page
