wow fishing! that's cool =]
i woke up in the middle of the night and i was 44! so i ate something and waited half an hour to test again and i was still 44. so i ate again and went to bed. when i woke up today i was 179, i guess i over treated the low :(.
anyway i had a light breakfast and an hour after later now im 207 =( (i hate myself when i over treat the lows). i guess i should go take an extra unit.

i noticed you are on a pump, how long have you been using it?

Hey Vikki
thanks for the friend add =]
I'm really sorry to hear that you are going through a tough time with your diabetes and your family :( But glad you joined us here. it is TOTALLY AWESOME! everyone is so supportive and helpful and friendly.
You are not alone, we are here to help you if you ever need anything dont hesitate and ask.

i was dx at the age of 10 (so i know what it is like to be 13 and diabetic) spent the fist couple of years taking good care of myself (of course with the help of my mum). Then a while before starting high school i started neglecting myself (not testing at all, eating what ever i want to when ever i wanted without taking extra units to cover it) thinking it was easier when i neglected my diabetes.
When i got my a1c tested it was 8.2 (and the lab said that greater than 8 is uncontrolled diabetes) somehow when i read this it made me change my mind about wanting to take care of myself coz i dont want to be blind when i grow up, dont want to suffer from kidney diseases or any other diabetes complications, and i certainly dont want to die young.

i decided i would start taking care of myself.
One or two months ago i started by testing before every meal and watching what i eat. now i test more than 10 times a day, dont eat bad food (or at least try to =]).
I know im not doing perfectly as i am supposed to, but right now im overall pleased with myself. hopefully ill be doing better soon :)

i should shut up now =]
How are you doing today?
Take Care.

Greetings from a insulin-dependent, clinically dead, in Boston, since 1977, with a BG of 880, in TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA, where INSULIN was discovered by BANTING & BEST, JULY 30 1921. As a 91 computer rookie, my years and experiences have given me some solid advice to share with others. THE PERSON THAT KNOWS MOST ABOUT THEIR DIABETES, WILL LIVE THE LONGEST. Join a support group with others in similar problems. Seek out a local LIONS CLUB, they have an excellent diabetes awareness program, I have been in LIONISM since 1972. Have a good diabetes team (diabetic specialist, dietitans, podiatrist, social worker, pharmacist), L isten to your body, it tells you when to eat, what to eat, EXERCISE, rest, sleep, Wear a MEDIC-ALERT identification, it can SPEAK for you in case of emergency. Have a DIABETIC BUDDY, someone you are in touch with EVERYDAY. clarence.haynes@sympatico.ca

Hi! I'm thirteen, too. Welcome!!! You'll love this site, everyone is so great and helpful and supportive. I'm in seventh grade also. I'm sorry you feel so alone with diabetes, but I can understand. I'm the only kid in my school with it. Just remember that you're a normal kid! :) Hopefully a cure is close!
