Abdominal pain is tiresome

Posted on October 23, 2011 at 6:17pm 0 Comments

Dull lower back and abdominal pain, after more than a month I am really tired of it. Thought it was constipation at first, but it's really not. Or kidney pain ... no other symptoms though. This is not a place where I can just go to a doctor and get checked. Well, I can, in a dark little clinic, struggling to explain myself to a doctor who has 'some' English and lots of pre-conceived ideas affecting any possible diagnosis. And in the end knowing that I will get handed a card of whatever pills… Continue

How to Spend a Week of not-Holiday

Posted on October 19, 2011 at 11:20pm 0 Comments

We can't come into work - all will be locked of course. We have to 'work from home'. So, where should home be?

I think that we should be able to get reasonable reception on the island, Pulau Kapas.

The really good thing about being on the island is that there is lots of opportunity for exercise - swimming and walking - and no opportunities for absent-minded snacking - all meals are a deliberate visit to the 'restaurant'.

Congrats on maintaining the good bg levels during the holidays!! I know what you mean as I've been having the urge to eat so much...its not helping!! (especially the weight side... even being sick is not helping much :p )

Well I guess christmas here is a bigger thing than in KT... the chinese temple behind my house even put fireworks and wished everyone merry christmas in their "open air concert"! LOL

That thinking they have sounds a whole lot like my g-mother's thinking. Yes she gets so upset with me when I don't eat the 3 kinds of potatoes she cooks for lunch & dinner. Her saying??? "Vetagables never hurt nobody Why can't u eat potaooes and corn like me?"She's 86 and I just got to where I don't even try and explain it to her anymore. As for ur weight and eating very little u might be like my mom was. No matter what she ate or how little she ate her motabilisim wouldn't digest itright and sometimes if she just looked at something she would gain weight. Now my husbands nephew would eat like he lost his mind and never gain a pound. HE INFREATED ME> Anybody that could eat 1/2 a cassorole and not gain anything from it totally burned me up. Now that he's passed 30 he's beganning to put on weight. I'm not heavy and my kids are always going on to be b/c I weigh like 139 and never seem to put on weight but then again I only snack around not eating much of nothing but when we went on vacation (my hubby & I) I really over done myself and for a bit there I gained like 10 pounds! LOL!
