Insulin Pumping and CGM

Posted on May 25, 2010 at 6:44pm 3 Comments

I found out not long ago that my insurance is now covering the CGM. I am now using it and so far I'm liking it. It is a little more complicated to learn than the pump but Im getting there.

Is there anybody else who is new to using the CGM? Please let me know how you like it.

Using Humalog

Posted on December 8, 2007 at 4:41pm 3 Comments

I just started using Humalog and didn't really get any instruction on how to use it. I wasn't told to use it before meals or after. I was given a slide scale on the units to use. 0 to150-0 units, 151 to 250 3 units and so on. When I got done eating dinner tonight I took 3 units of Humalog and two hours after eating did my sugar and it was 199, OK, something is wrong here. What can I do or am I doing something wrong.

USING TWO TYPES OF INSULIN

Posted on November 18, 2007 at 8:11pm 3 Comments

I know that I may need to add another type of insulin to gain control of my after meal #'s. I have been researching Humalog and think that this may be the one to talk to my doctor about. Right now I'm on Lantus and Glucotrol XL. Can Lantus be used with Humalog?

Hi Angela. I don't have good control, myself...like you said, it's my fault. I'm looking for a good endo in Chicagoland, and I've gotten some good replies. I'm going to find one, then I am going to follow their advice to the letter.

Have a good night.

Wow, Angela! You were diagnosed only a few days before me! It was June 28 or 29, can't remember! LOL! How are you doing? I know it takes time to get used to everything. I'm still not used to it! I want tight control over my diabetes. I hope you have full control over yours.

Take care,

John

Hi Angela, you posted comments/question on a discussion I started on Pumping our Insulin. I know it`s been a while since you posted your question, but here goes ;) I didn't know that you could reuse the cartridge (still a rookie with the pump). Is this true, cause I will reuse them if that's a possability. Even if I`m not a doctor, I wouldn't recommend reusing the reservoir for more than one use. But, that`s my opinion ;)

Hope this helps, take care!
