A new low symptom..?
I have a new low symptom. It's called Mind Can't Figure Out Proportions of Objects.
This is now how I am positively sure I am low without testing. But it is also really, really annoying.
It usually happens at night. I'm going to try to explain it without sounding like I'm absolutely insane, but just remember, it only happens when I'm low..
I'll be laying in bed, trying to sleep, thinking about anything and everything, and something clicks off in…

My Pancreas and My Appendix Were in Cahoots
So I thought this would be the week (I thought the weekend even!) Would be when I caught up on all my travel writing/blogging. Then, friday afternoon, a little nagging pain started in my abdomen, growing
over the night such that I could barely sleep. Saturday, after
unsuccessfully trying gas x and laxatives, I went to urgent care (an
overly generous name for what is provided there in my…

My Sad, but Funny, History With Carbs
In one chapter of my book (published in March, 2010) I recalled several things from the history of diabetes. One paragraph from that chapter is given here:
"There were two schools of thought in the 17'th century. One theory proposed replacing the sugar lost in the urine by following a diet high in carbohydrates. The…

Marty had a "low" day...
Taken from The DiabeticDuo
Of course, I didn’t realise it until dinner time. (Still irritated at myself for that) Yesterday Marty seemed fine when he got of the school bus. (yes, we are still doing dry runs-I start work on Monday- and I have spent way too much time giving the bus company a hard time over one of their drivers…more on that at another time) When we walked in the house he was complaining that he wanted dinner and it was…

Lantus Or Levimir
Hey guys!
Well i'm gonna talk about my expierience with Lantus and Levimir!..
When I first got put on insulin shots I was using Levimir as my long lasting insulin that I took at aorund 10;00 every night. Levimir over all really wasn't for me. I was using it for about a year or so and it was increasing my A1c alll the time. I was waking up to a blood glucose of about 11 12 13...?sometimes over 15 and gooing to bed around…

Day One - New Pump - A Little Frustrating!
My daughter started the minimed last night. At midnight we had to change the site because she had a BG of 450. After taking out the set, we saw the cannula was bent. My question to everyone is, does anyone use a quick set and insert it themselves without the inserter "mushroom" thing. My daughter wants nothing to do with the inserter and is inserting manually but I'm nervous the cannula will always bend. Any suggestions, advice, personal experiences on this. The trainor…

New byetta - one shot a day!
Hello to you all,
I saw my GP this week and she mentionned that a new byetta shot is on the market since last month. Only one injection a day ... Has anybody experienced this new shot. My GP told me that I should stay on byetta 10 mg twice a day as I don't have any side effects.
