Buying a Kayak

After weeks of renting a touring kayak with my son, I'm ready to buy! found a great Kayak store way up in Warren County, NJ with the best showroom/selection I've seen ! I'm sold on a Wilderness Systems Tsunami 12.5 ft boat. A good, stable all around touring kayak.
Anyone else out there on tudiabetes go kayaking? I'd love to compare notes!

Yay!

I got my pink UltraMini in the mail today. I really like it. Easy to use and very nice. I also love the lancets and the device as it doesn't hurt nearly as much as the other one I was using.

So yay for nice new meters!

Relax and watch TV...

Well, here I am watching some TV in the evening time. JoAnn is here too, feeding Charlotte. We are watching "Back to You" on the DVR. It's not a bad show, and Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton are great...

Also, if you get BBC America, check out Robin Hood, MI-5, and Ultimate Force. All great shows... :)

Possible Surgery

Well today I had to go for an arteriogram and mri on my shoulder. My orthopedist thinks I have an rotator cuff tear. I have a copy of the films already and it does look like there is a tear there. I will know for sure on Oct. 25. I think my body is betraying me. I have had surgery on both knees, right foot, left shoulder and know possibly my right shoulder.

stupid pharmacy

so this actually happened yesterday but I didn't have the time to post about it yet so here goes.

day before yesterday I called in to get my new box of syringes because I was down to my last baggie of 10. I use 4 a day. I have to wait until a certain time because my insurance will only cover it after a certain date (like after 1 month) when I called in they told me I had no more refills on it. I looked on my pres. and…

Fun with test sites!

Thanks to my newly received One Touch Mini, I've got some extra test strips, and thanks to my inner procrastinator, I've got some extra time.

Here goes, all tested within about 5 minutes:

Left ring finger - 98

left big toe - 102

left palm -107 (and painful!)

left forearm - couldn't produce big enough sample

right ring finger - 97

abdomen - couldn't produce big enough sample

right heel - couldn't produce big enough sample

I gave up…

Computers and bedtime...

I looked at the computer and it does appear to be the PSU, so I e-mailed Loey and Rick to let them know it will be about $40 to fix it. Loey had me e-mail some files that she needed... so we'll wait to get the PSU now...

Anywho, time for bed as JoAnn has already gone there... Little Charlotte goes to bed at about 9:30 - 10:00, and sleeps until 6:30 am... and she's only 14 weeks old - AMAZING..!!! :)

Duh!

I am so lame sometimes! I try to be so on top of my diabetes (at least I think I do), but today I spaced out. I made sure I ate a snack this afternoon to account for my scrimmaging with my HS volleyball team today. However, on my drive home I felt so sluggish and thirsty, when I suddenly came to a realization...in my haste at lunch today I gave myself my symlin, but completely forgot to bolus when I got to the lunch room. I hate when I do that! I never ever forgot to give shots in my pre-pump… Continue

Learning more as I go.

Well, I did stop all medication on October 7th.

Stephen talked me into going back to see the Dr and talking out my frustrations over constipation. Me wanting to see lower morning numbers etc... We settled on a trial of Byetta as well as a medicine to help me thru some depression.

The shot was easier to give myself than I thought it would be!

I'll keep an eye to see how it goes. My hope is to use it to help with getting my numbers in better control when I wake up in…

Back home and time for work...

Well, just got home for the evening with JoAnn and Charlotte after having dinner at Mom and Dad's place. Mom made pork chop hot pot, yummie. I limited myself to a small about of mashed potato.

Anyway, I have to look at a computer for Aunt Lois (my mother-in-laws cousin, actually) as they have a bunch of documents for the church on there and the thing fired. I'm guess…

It's coming! It's coming!

It's my 3rd anniversary of my fallout with dear Panny this Saturday, October 20.

I don't know how I feel exactly. Good and bad.

Every year though, I do a little "Celebration of Life" with my friends (and family, though that is long distance). Last year, I got to fail a math midterm (YES!!!) and then got to go out to dinner with the loveliest group of people, all before heading out to NYC the next morning =)

This year, my friend from Platts and NYU are coming down to celebrate -- and… Continue

Finally!

I finally got a morning reading under 200 this morning. 184 to be exact! And according to SugarStats.com my BG has went down 12% so I'm getting there!

I have a follow-up appointment with my Dr. on Monday so I guess I'll see what she has to say then.

I'm looking forward to my appointment with that dietician on the 30th. Hopefully I'll get a better handle on what to eat then.

Endo Visit, A1c and Sick Day Plan

Today was another trip to the endo's. In the process of going for my appointment, I also missed a pop quiz my professor sprang on the class. Life gets you like that.

For you number-crunching people, my A1c is maintained at a beautiful 5.3. I shall continue doing what I'm doing and I'm pretty sure it will stay in the 5's range for a while. That really made my day!

On another note, I discussed with my endo what I should when I fall really sick - meaning when I've got a high… Continue

I Need Soul.

Today was my day off. What did I do? I slept in until 8:00 (waking up at 105--niiiice!) and got a cup of cuppa Joe with a friend. I went to the bank and then went to look at little kitten, "Soul," whom I just adore. I filed the adoption papers today to Animals Taiwan. We'll see what comes of it all. Soul seemed sweet and laid back. He came right…

How do you measure the work of volunteers?

329,040 minutes, 329,040 moments so dear. 329,040 minutes — How do you measure, measure volunteers? In smileys, in tears shed, in counsel, in cups of coffee. In units, in carb counts, in laughter, in strife. In 329,040 minutes – how …
