The Sugar - Fitness Struggle Part 2

Check out the original post here for pictures

A few days ago I posted on my blog The Juice Box Diaries about how I’ve struggled with self-confidence when it comes to body image. Through weight gains, losses, and a bit of an unhealthy outlook towards what it means to be beautiful, I’ve spent over 10 years dreaming of the…

Doctor Issues!!

So right now I'm pretty ticked off at my Dr. So I go in the other day because I still don't have a correct diagnosis. He still has me as a type 2 and I think I'm type 1 and so does my CDE. So I asked him, hey is there some kind of test I can get to see which type I am. He starts going on about how he basically doesn't think it matters what type I am. That if I was type 2 the medicines would have worked (which they didn't) and if I was type 1 that I would be on insulin (which I am) but he…

Doctor Visit and Test Results

Irony of ironies, I had an appointment with my endo on 11/10/10 -- 1 year to the day I had my first appointment with her! Today I got the results of the lab work. The visit and the labs were a mixed bag of good and not so good and a reminder that diabetes isn't the only problem I need to watch.

Blood pressure was good, at 110/68. I have better touch sensation in the bottom of my feet than I did 2 years ago (yeah!). Overall, My doctor is very happy with my bgs. I'm still having lows,… Continue

Moving forward with self-care

I got to see Dr. M. yesterday and the appointment went way better than expected.

In the past, Dr. M. has been sub-par. I switched to her when my time with my traveling peds endo expired (aka when I turned 17) because of numerous praises from some of her diabetes patients in my church. I expected miracles. I got four years of A1cs in the 8 and 9 percents.

In retrospect, I know this was my own doing. Diabetes, I have learned, is a disease we have to handle ourselves and the… Continue

Another visit with one of the Docs

Mostly good news today. Doc said my sugar is being pretty well controlled right now and I must be eating right (What she doesn't know won't hurt her). My cholesterol is very good, diabetes is good but still going to run some more tests.I did get lectured on my choice of shoes. ;-) I also found out today that my asthma isn't doing so well ( I already knew that) so they are increasing my dosage of Theophyline. It always makes me wonder when they look at you and say things like, "Now if you get… Continue

This article is from March 2008. I just found it today. I thought I would post a link considering it is reminiscent to my experience with my new M.D.
