Fathers Day

I've got this dad, see. His name's Dayton... no joke. It's his first name. Actually it's his middle name, but he uses it like a first name because his actual first name is, uhm... weird.

Anyway, I've got this dad named Dayton, and you know how we think of dads as being protective of their kids? Well, I'm the baby in the family, and I was diagnosed with type 1 when I was smaller than our family dog and looked like a blonde, blue-eyed angel (I say it humorously, although apparently I…

Coming to my Type 1's for Support

I apologize for bringing non diabetes conversation here, but when I was trying to figure out where I can get support this was the first place I thought of.

As many of you know, I have been alienated from my children for nearly 10 years but maintained a very close and deep relationship with them. However, 7 weeks ago this Friday their mother went to court and said that I was pressuring them and lawyered her way into getting me only supervised visitation. I have had unlimited joint…

Just the RAMBLINGS of a Black Country Lad

A wonderful morning like this almost makes you feel human there is a spring in your step a smile on your face and that warm feeling deep inside your very soul, then you wake up and swallow 13 pills inject yourself 3 times and realize this is not what mother nature intended for you,we are fragile things in the scheme of the great awareness, but as the poet once said breath in breath out what more do you want out of life, dandelions (Taraxacum Officinale) there botanical name if I have got the… Continue

Weekend Sleep Over

I came across this entry and it took me back. Back to a time when we had weekend sleep overs where we would stay up all night and scare each other silly. Ahh good times. My parents would always let me have a big sleep over the weekend before my birthday seeing that we would not be in school anyways because it was New Years. Yes I am a New Years baby. This particular year was different. I almost did not have my sleep over.

Cinco de Mayo: In Memory of My Dad...

In memory of my father, Hector Rafael Collazo Santos, who battled for 23 years with Type 2 Diabetes, before succumbing to respiratory failure on the operating table while awaiting a leg amputation, at the age of 63...

Dad, you were larger than life, and larger than Diabetes will ever be. You were more than a father, or a spouse. You were a mentor, a teacher, a dreamer, an artist, a bohemian till the end, a mad mathematical genius, an engineer, an athlete, a coach, a…

Help Me and my Dad with the World Diabetes Day Fundraiser!

Hi All,

I don't normally solicit, but with World Diabetes Day coming up, I wanted to let you guys know that my father has created a Fundraiser (concert/fish fry) here in Milwaukee, where 100% of the proceeds go directly to help cure diabetes. There is no administration cost--it's all being covered by my dad and his company, and even if you are not in the local WI area, please consider making a donation to the WDD fund. ANY amount at all would be… Continue
