Tom Goffe A revealing hospital visit

There I was - tanking like mad last night. It seemed that each glucose tab was sending my BG lower instead of the other direction. First 60, then 47 - then 39. I was starting to lose it, and when my wife took another reading and it was 27, she asked if I wanted to go to the hospital. I replied "call the meat wagon." They arrived within minutes, hooked me up to an IV as we bumped on down the road. They wheeled me through the ER doors - crowded with the 10:00pm flu and sniffles crowd. So far there… Continue

Lois La Rose THE JOURNEY TO WELLNESS

Well, gang, I'm finally here ... in one piece. Following is the "saga" that led up to and followed my hospital stay. On Tues., 4/28, I was measured for custom-made compression stockings. Over $300!! Nothing notable about my feet. On Wed., 4/29, I had a follow-up appointment in the wound clinic at St. Luke's for lymphedema. Manny Hernandez Esophageal Spasm episode @ the ER

I just came back from the ER. This morning, I was feeling a pain in my throat (not like sore throat, but more like something was stuck in there, somehow) which continued to travel down to my chest. Naturally, we got concerned, so Andreina took me to the local ER. After an EKG and bloodwork, they confirmed it was not h… Continue

Sarah M Noah's Diagnosis

Noah’s been such a trooper for the last year and a half. He’s still getting to know what diabetes means to him, and I suppose he understands more than I give him recognition for. One day I will ask him if he remembers his diagnosis day, and how he saw it. I do wonder how the whole ordeal made him feel. I am eternally grateful for my husband Dan, who is also type 1; I could not have gotten through it without him. September 21, 2007 The night we caught it I was at work, a short shift, probably 5… Continue

Heidi98 too tired

I want to retire to a desert island, far from doctors and hospitals and the pain of it all(when it comes time to go) I am tired, spent another 12 hours in the ER to get up my magnesium(from 0.9 to 2.2) Read my blog, if you want to know why. I am bound for Johns Hopkins, my electrolytes keep tanking and they don't know why. Well, they do but local docs don't really "get it" and I need a freakin' super specialist(nephrologist) because I have got a leak + it very likely is Gittleman's Syndrome or B… Continue
