Can't believe our luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jesse is recovering from a broken leg from a car pedestrian accident from 6 weeks ago. Yesterday we were sitting at a red light and an SUV hit our Toyota from behind at 40 mph throwing us into oncoming traffic from my direction and we were continually hit by cars coming down the other street. My car is totalled. Jesse and I were cut out of the car as our seat broke and ended up in the back seat with mine twisted I heard. I was knocked unconscious and my son has reinjured his leg and has a…

Update on my son

As I reported 6 weeks ago, my son was walking across a street on his college campus and was struck by a car that did not see him. He was transferred to where I live and has a broken left tibia on the inside and outside of his leg. By the grace of God the car didn't run completely over him. However, the top two inches of his tibia was crushed and he has been set in a brace that locks into place so the leg is immobile and bent where he can't walk on it.

We saw the ortho surgeon…

Can you believe this?

I was invited to a Health Fair yesterday that had more than you could ever ask for. It was near a senior high rise apartment building but was open to all ages. Once I had made it thru all the tables on the outside, I started going thru the inner tables. There is a large kitchen at the back and I started feeling shakey and ill so I headed that way to see if they had anything. Well, they did and were serving light foods. The Health Fair is put on every years by graduating RN's from Univ. of Mary… Continue

Dreamfield healthy lower carb pasta

I was introduced to Dreamfields pasta at my diabetic class I am attending. I had seen it in the store but not paid that much attention to it. I was sent info. by email about a live showing that they were having coming up and participated in it with my questions and thoughts. Dreamfields not only sent me a huge case of all their different pastas with several coupons as well but also sent me an autographed book of Sheri Shephard's book from the tv show, The View. It is about her struggles with a… Continue

Why is Avandia still on the market?

43% increase of heart attacks and it is still on the market? How can the FDA allow this? You help one thing and cause another. I don't understand this. Good Morning America did a short story about the complications cropping up monthly for patients and was voted 23 - 1 to keep it as a med. Go figure. J

Sense of belonging

I am a new single person. No, I have been divorced for ten years but my son left for grad school. I have had kids at home for the past 38 years. I am trying to get a sense of belonging and feel for what I want to do with the rest of my life. I had to take a medical for my career which just about killed me. I left kicking and screaming as I loved my work.

I don't know when to sleep, when to eat, what to do etc. I have taken college classes the past three years to take what I enjoy now…

Monday with puddles

Why do our children have to grow up so fast? My last one left me with empty nest syndrome. I laughed it off when people told me about it but it's true. I have found myself alone for the first time in 38 yrs. I keep active during the days but I have to admit that nights and weekends are tough. As I was on the long drive back yesterday I found myself catching my tears in my hands. We want our children to grow up and be successful but why didn't someone tell me it isn't easy? I'm not complaining… Continue

Thankful weekend

Today is the perfect weekend. I live in Central Texas so I enjoy this type of weather before it gets sticky and hot. It is about 60 degrees with the sun shining. Just took my fiesty dog for a walk and took in the fresh air and enjoyed the park. My son has been home from college for 5 weeks and goes back Monday. I am so grateful to have had the time with him and reconnect. I thought as he got older that we might grow apart or he wouldn't need me anymore. Nope, same son just taller and older now.… Continue

Winding down the day

I took my dog for a walk hoping to see the sun setting but missed it. However, I saw our neighbor's son who is an only child and seems ignored by his mom. I went and sat with him on his front steps and asked about his Christmas. He took out an Ipod and showed me and we talked about what kind of music he likes. Take an opportunity to think of others and it will be so rewarding to your life. Your problems will still be there but it can wait. Reach out and touch someone's life. You never know how… Continue

Too excited to sleep!

I find myself waking every night for a few minutes and wonder like a small child waiting for Christmas what the day is going to bring. Some say they can feel my vibrations across a room. I listen to everything everyone says. I love to engage in conversation about everything. I get joy in kicking back in sweats, walking the dog, and watching the sun set. Every day is full of colors and interesting people. Take the time to listen and give back. It is so fulfilling. I can't wait to get up...hurry… Continue

Day to feel grateful

Today is the first morning in weeks that I went for my 4 mile walk without a coat. It was intoxicating feeling the sun on my face and the warmer breeze blowing my hair. I found myself smiling the whole time I was outside. It made me realize how grateful I am for everything in my life. I, however, like to take it further and go looking for more to be grateful for. My bucket list is to leave a legacy not for what I did as a career for all those years or my children that are now grown but for what… Continue

Defying age and diabetes

I feel so liberated since my last child went away to finish his college days. How can I be my age and feel like I am experiencing life for the first time - simple. I have never been on my own until now. I took the challenge of finding out who I really am and what I like. I make every day different and find something truly remarkable and something to be grateful for every day. Ok, I do have weak moments and text my son a lot. I found out that I like myself and I still have a lot to offer! Life… Continue

Living like it's the first time!

I am riding so high on life right now. I love being independent and doing great for being alone for the first time in my life. I am finding out new stuff every day about myself. Don't think I am vein as that so isn't me. It's just fun figurig out who you are. I miss not working and having to retire too soon even though I worked 35 years. I thought I could work until I died. Live hard, play hard, and leave a legacy. Mine is in giving back to others. Love ya world!
