Just started Symlin yesterday. I first took it at lunch and did not lower any insulin rates. I started at 160 and for 3 hours I was great 96-126. Dinner I had a carb guess meal and started at 158 and 2 hours later 63. But that could be from the guessing right? Usually I'm pretty good at guestimating. This morning I did the same thing started at 118 and dropped to 40 . So, Now what? Lessen my IC ratio? I'm giving this stuff a month cuz I don't like the way it makes me feel, hopefully that…

I for the third time last night bolused without eating, knowing or remembering. I've been on the pod since 2008. Anyways, last night at 2:14 it says carb 81g at 2:24 it says 94 g of carbs and at 2:24 a.m. I took 7.8 units. Anyways, thats the second time i've done something like that. The first time i did it in the middle of the night it was a few months ago around the same time only it was only bolus for 13u. The first time was a few years ago, in the middle of the day and I was caught by my…

I've been thinking a lot about my upcoming appointment with the Doc. Actually NP. It's been over a year since I've seen the actual Dr. I HATE switching Dr.s. I think this is like my 2nd yr. with her. My A1C was 7.1 and the NP said..close enough. What? I know I'm not gonna have perfect readings, but they could definitely be better. I'm tired of her looking at my journal and freaking out over a few lows. I highlight my highs and lows and my journal has way more orange (color for my highs) than…

I've been high since I put this pod on. Just in the lower to mid 200"s. Thinking I'm getting poor absorption. While I hate being high I also hate wasting pods and insulin....so can I just op my basal rate by a percentage? Anyone else try something like that?

Had to go see the Dr. on 6/1 cuz my old site for the pod was big, red and hurt. I've been on the pod since 2008 and I always wipe with alcohol so I'm not sure why this happened. It started off as like a welt about the size of a quarter. I called insulet and they told me to rub it. It actually went down to about the size of a nickel. Then on Wed. it was about the size of my pod, extremely red and painful. I'm on antibiotics, but it still is the same. When the Dr. looked at it she said she didn't…

Yesterday was a horrible day. Woke up at 219. after breakfast was 268. took my correction, then at 11:44 was 182. I had some strawberries, bolused and 2 hrs later was 278. Changed my pod at 11:30, and sometimes I go high, and every time I do, I have a hard time getting down. So I not only took a correction at 4:00 (bg 282) I did a temp basal at 50% for 4 hours. Every time I'm high I have such a hard time coming down. Recently I asked the nurse practitioner that I see if this is insulin…

Maybe a month or two ago I woke uo dizzy, stumbled into the bathroom. That whole day I was dizzy. The next two days were better, but I noticed it mostly when I layed down. Went to the Dr.'s and she said I had Vertigo. Gave me some exercises to do. Friday night took my shower, bent down to put a towel around my head, and the room started spinning so badly I fell. Luckily I didn't hurt myself. Had to sit there a few minutes. Vomitted. Got out checked my sugars and was low tried drinking juice,…

I just started having pains in my back right around where the left kidney is. Went and checked my ketones and they are trace but my bs is 146. So could the back pain and trace ketone mean something is wrong?

yesterday changed my pod at 4:10. At 6:51 bg was 214. Ate 30 carbs and bolused 3.8 u. at 8:53 380 so I changed my pod and took 5 units by injection. At 10:57 382. Not sure what to do so I go to bed. 12:42 364, not quite awake I bolus 2.7 and a few minutes later change my pod and insulin cuz I figured if a bolus of 5 units didn't bring me down but 18 then it was probably my insulin, which is almost empty anyway. At 5:03 I was 288 and took 1.85 units and at 8:21 I was 172. This is the first time…

I was having a lot of highs, so I called my endo. We've been adjusting for the last week and a half. My bs are now running low. I wake up low and 3 hours after breakfast I'm low. Just added a few changes to my basal and he wants me to try this out for 2 weeks before anymore changes. Not to mention tomorrow I'm having outpatient surgery done. I already know to do a temp basal during the procedure. Should I really wait that long for any changes especially since I 1. wake up low and have been for…

My old endo said I'm a brittle diabetic. I fluctuate I think a lot. No resistance though and it's mostly lows I get. I try to manage. I just started an insulin pump and cgms. Today I googled brittle diabetic and didn't like what I read. I'll be completely honest...I haven't always tried so hard to manage, but for the last 4 years I've REALLY been trying. My thyroids good too. They just made it sound like people who don't try to control have brittle diabetes. It just upset me. Glad I can rant…

I'M SO PISSED I CAN'T SEE STRAIGHT. I BOUGHT AN ACER ASPIRE 1-6-09, AND IT QUIT WORKING. THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT HELP BECAUSE MY HUBBY WIPED THE HARD DRIVE. FIRST THEY SAID MY WARRANTY WAS UP IN JULY. THERES 1 YEAR WARRANTY, CAN THEY NOT COUNT? ANYWAYS, I FINALLY GOT MY RECEIPT FAXED AND EVERYTHING CLEARED UP, BUT BY THAT TIME MY HUBBY WIPED THE HARD DRIVE, WE ACTUALLY BOUGHT A NEW HARD DRIVE THAT WON'T SHOW UP IN THE ACER. MIND YOU, MY HUBBYS NO DUMMY WHEN IT COMES TO P.C'S. SO, WITH ALL MY…

I just got my test results back from my endo. A1C is down to 7.1, it was 7.7. Of course the A1C doesn't actually say it all for me. When I was taking shots, I was around 6.5, but had a LOT of lows. My hubby would come home from work a few times a week to see me sprawled out. Since I've been on the pump, I have maybe 1 a month. (sprawled out lows where he has to help me). My cholesterol ,kidney function, and triglicerides are all good. Yesterday I went to my cardiologist. (I have cardiomyopathy)…

Well I went to see my endo and showed him all my markings from the cgms. So he told me o do it periodically. My lab work won't be in till the 26th. He did a whole work up. Thyroid, cholesterol and A1C. My last A1C was 7.7. So, I'm anxious. I've been having problems changing my pods the last 3 times. Frustrating. There have been 4 pods that haven't even finished priming. I only put a little over 100 units per pod, but for the last 3, thats a little over 300 units gone. Today I tried to take my…

I go see him Wednesday. Started omnipod in January and my A1C soared to 7.7. On the needle I was 6.5. Also just started a cgms. Don't care for it cuz it's hard for me to do it myself. I have to wait until my hubby gets home from work. It's also leaving bad marks. I've got track marks on my thigh. I've decided if it helps him to help me, then I'll continue, but hopefully here and there cuz I know your supposed to rotate, but my thighs are only so big.

I changed my sensor for the first time yesterday. I had issues the very first time, but I thought that maybe it was just because it was new to me. Taking the starter needle out was difficult and attaching the transmitter. My husband was home and helped. He also had a hard time. Anyone else have these problems, and any suggestions on how to make it easier? I have such a hard time I was thinking about keeping it in longer. I was told only 6 days though. It's definitely not what I thought it would…
