I remember my boyfriend carrying me to the car and then putting me in a wheel chair and taking me into the ER. Then i remember waking up in a white room with a bright light on above my bed. I guess i passed out at some point. The doctor came in and told me that my blood sugar was at 902 and that i was damn near coma and that my body… Continue

a dream crushed

Growing up in a military family i always told myself i would be joining my family in serving my country.

I dreamed from the time i was in diapers of seeing my name stiched onto a TRUE camo uniform fit for me. I always wanted to be a soldier.

At 13 when i was diagnosed with T1 i never thought it would impact my furture as much as it did.

When i was 17 i started my enlistment papers. I had talked with my parents about my recruitment and they were willing and ready to help me do… Continue

Steel Magnolias

ok so has anyone seen the movie steel magnolias with julia roberts in it?

it shows how even the healthiest looking person can loose control and eventually let diabetes control them.

for me it was a huge motivation to take better control of myself.

and i will repeat this once more

Steel Magnolias is a MUST SEE movie for any diabetic and exspecially one who is struggling with diabetes. it will show you how precious your life… Continue

Struggling wih A1C

I was diagnosed with T1 diabetes at the age of 13, its been 5 years and about 7 months.

For the first 3 years I had perfect A1C levels. They ran around 4.5-5s. But then I started losing control. My levels started to elevate and kept going up no matter what. This past year they have reached 13+. Recently I have started to control my diabetes instead of letting it control me. Today I had a check and my level was 10.1. I know thats a really bad level but it actually dropped 1.4 points… Continue
