On The Road To Recovery

The Glucoholic has really been taking some time to concentrate on his health. I'm really excited to report that today's doctor visit confirms that my efforts are producing results. HbA1c down to 6.6, cholesterol down another 20, and 20 pounds lighter feels good. Let's hope I can keep it up! Continue

Finally starting to feel better!

I mentioned last week that I've been suffering from a terrible cold. Basically spent the whole weekend sleeping and resting and I'm finally starting to feel better. One thing that got me through the painful, scratchy throat was Edy's No Sugar Added Fruit Bars. Fabulous fruit flavors and only six carbs! Here's to everyone out there suffering with summer cold… Continue

I hate being sick!

I've been fighting a serious cold all week and it's really messing with my mojo. I did manage to get in a review of True Lemon citrus flavor packets. These things seem to be pretty versatile. The True Lemon website has a bunch of recipes for using them, and they really do add authentic flavor to your teas and such. Also, I just found out yesterday that the… Continue

Another Light Cranberry Grape Juice Option

A while back we reviewed the Ocean Spray Light Cran-Grape Juice. I've been looking for some competition for this product and it had arrived in the form of Northland Light Cranberry Grape Juice. A nice juice that's a very healthy option for diabetics. Each serving only contains 5mg of sodium! Continue

Just in time for the summer time heat!

I just reviewed the most delightful frozen treat. PhillySwirl Sugar Free Vanilla Cream Stix are delicious. They come in three flavors: raspberry, orange, and cherry. I really liked the cherry flavor, but the others were good too. If you try them and like them as much as I did, please let them know on their website. On a less pleasant… Continue

An interesting green tea option

We've had pretty bad experiences with a variety of green tea products in the past. We were so glad that Diet Snapple Lime Green Tea proved to be something different. It's a very nice combination of green tea, lime flavor, and sweetness. Just in time for a hot summer, this iced tea is a great, healthy way to quench you thirst. Continue

Low Calorie Snapple Noni Berry Juice Drink

Yet another dual aspartame and sucralose sweetened drink today. I still feel like totally sucralose would be better, but I have to admit that the ones we've found so far taste pretty good. Low Calorie Snapple Noni Berry Juice Drink would have been a complete home run if it hadn't been for that pesky caffeine. I can see how appealing to… Continue

Happy Memorial Day!

Let's all take a moment today to think about the heavy price that's been paid for us to have the freedom we all enjoy. On another note, Diet Sierra Mist Ruby Splash finally made it to my grocery store! I've really been looking forward to this, and I was not disappointed! Continue

My addiction to Mountain Dew has returned!

But this time in a good way. Caffeine Free Diet Mountain Dew has been my beverage of choice for a few days. Don't get me wrong, it's not going to replace my Jones Sugar Free Black Cherry soda, but it's a great tasting sugar free drink that takes me back. As an aside, I could not find this product on Mountain Dew's website to save my life. It absolutely b… Continue

Low Carb Food Review For The Second Week In A Row!

We promise we'll get back to some awesome sugar free drinks and sugar free snacks very soon, but we couldn't help ourselves. We were going to make some chili last week and went on a mission to find a low carb tomato sauce. We didn't have to look any further than Ragu Light No Sugar Added Tomato & Basil Sauce. It's a good, all-purpose sauce that really went well with our chili. I'd really be intere… Continue

The Return Of The Low Carb Food Review!

Hi yall. We were recently reminded that we haven't done any food reviews of late, and we marinated (I kill me) one up and just posted it. Mrs. Dash Lemon Herb Peppercorn Marinade was pretty tasty. Wonder how this would taste on on corn dogs... Continue

Fruit2O Natural Grape

Well, I managed to weather the Easter candy onslaught without a single loss. That's good for me. Not wanting to put myself on the porcelain bus from over-consumption, I decided to go with another sugar free drink for our latest review instead of sugar free candy. Fruit2O Natural Grape actually turned out to be a great find. It's got great flavor with no aftertaste, and I highly recommend it. Let us know your opinion, espec… Continue

Sweet Leaf Tea Diet Sweet Tea

I'm really starting to get in to these mom and pop startup beverage companies. While reading through some SXSW stuff I found this company Sweet Leaf Tea. They're located in Austin, Texas. I'm noticing a trend where these companies are really trying to produce low sugar, low calorie beverages that taste good. When I try some of the diet drinks from some of the bigger companies I have to ask myself "who thinks this ta… Continue

I'm in love (Again)

I've really been testing a lot of low carb and sugar free drinks over the past week or so. I guess the warmer weather in the southeast is making me thirsty. Anyhow, I stumbled across Welch's Diet Black Cherry juice and I'm in love. This stuff is great. In the last 24 hours I've gulped down four of these things. I couldn't find much information about Welch's Diet drinks on the old intarwebs, so I'm trying to get the word… Continue

Major Distractions

Between college basketball and this beautiful spring weather in the southeast, I barely had time to get in a review of SoBe Black and Blue Berry Lifewater. I've been undertaking a pretty major spring cleaning project and have been sipping on it for a few days now when I got thirsty. I've complained more than once about the bitter taste of stevia, but the PureVia sweetener in this water just didn't give me any… Continue

Why don't I just go on the Atkins Diet?

I drink one of their shakes almost every morning. I just reviewed the Atkins the Advantage Caramel Chocolate Peanut Nougat Bar. Oh that's right - the economy's tight and buying more than the daily shake would put me in line for a bailout! Seriously though, I would say a good percentage of their products are pretty good. Just wish they were not so expensive. Here's hoping I can keep up with o… Continue
