Faith

Fear of DKA – what we know, what we don’t, and what we NEED to know

Now I had a slight knowledge of what DKA or Diabetic Ketoacidosis is, thanks in part to my being an Administrator of this site, but no REAL knowledge. So I set out to find what I didn’t know. good news and bad news

i had my blood work done yesterday for my two-months recheck with endo.

bad news first:

my GFR (
glomerular filtration rate) was 31. in July when i was diagnosed it was 35, then 33 in late november, and now 31. I am two points away from Stage 4 CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease). I don't know how to stop that number from dropping so fast.

doing the A1c happy dance!

on July 24th my A1c was 7.9

i just got my results back from my lab work on 11/30/07... and DRUMROLL PLEASE.........

6.2!!!

Halloween Candy

Halloween Candy - Those dreaded two words to a parent with a diabetic child, and to all of us diabetics who have to see it in the store aisles, who have to see it in a co-worker's candy jar, and have to see it in our own non-diabetic child's trick or treat bag.
