Well it's that time of the year again. FINALS! It hasn't been too bad. I only have 3 finals instead of the usual 5. First was terrible second was really good. So I'm thinking 3rd times the charm...? haha I can't wait for Saturday to be finished and get to go out with my girl friends one last time before we all go our separate ways for the summer!
My blood sugars have been really good lately. Before they were a little out of control. Guess what the trick is....? accurate carb counting instead of…

things are going ok in the D life. my bloodsugars have been higher then usual but im gong to sum that up to my workload and daily routine changes. my basketball season just finished and i went from having 2 hours of extreme exercise a day to one hour 3 days a week. im thinking that this is the major influence....
school is going well. almost finished! im doing a placement at the child care center and i absolutely love my kids. they are 3-…

Cuba was amazing. truly a life changing experience. we played to games against some Cuban basketball players as well as practiced with them a number of times. we got to know the girls quit well which i think is the one thing that will stay with me from this trip. we were very fortunate to bring extra shoes and clothes sports equipment and anything that we thought would be helpful for them since they have nothing. the last day we played at the girls school where 700 elite athletes of the province…

so I am leaving for cuba in 5 days with my basketball team for our winter trip. we are gong for a week :) i am super excited. i love the girls on my team and it will be nice to go somewhere that doesn't have snow.
i'm always nervous travelling with all my D supplies. I feel like they are going to not know what it is and get questioned and make a big fuss over it. I haven't had any problems here in canada or the states, sometimes they actually know what it is but i still hate when their is a sce…

I went to see my is endo last week. It was my first time seeing her. I changed from my previous one because I didn't care for the way that she worked. This one was a lot better. I found she actually gave changes and suggestions rather then leaving myself to figure them out. When I was there she wanted me to start writing down how many CHO for each meal and how much insulin I gave. I know that I should be doing this and it would help gain better control but I honestly don't have the time to do it…

so my last basketball tryout for my university team was yesterday...and i made it :) this will be my 3rd year and hopefully the best year out of all of them. Today we got all our team gear and then tomorrow is our first practice! Then this weekend is our team training weekend...which is kind of a love hate relationship! Hating it when you feel like death from running so much but loving the games that we play!

So tonight I'm going back onto the pump. I switched to injections 2-3 months ago but now with school starting and basketball starting again I'm finding it really hard to get good control. I'm super high in the morning and go low every afternoon and night. I've been playing with dosages and snacks but I can't seem to get a hold on it. I really like not being hooked up to anything 24/7 but I guess I don't have a choice. I'm excited to have normal numbers again but I still am not wanting to change.

I'm now back at school. I've been back for a little over a week. Last weekend I went to my friends cottage and right in the middle of the weekend I got a message from my mom saying that my doctor's office had called about my blood work that I had gotten done a couple days before. My mom knowing not a whole lot about diabetes just told me two numbers that they had said. One was 14.1 and one was 0.716 or something of the sort. So i assume 14.1 is A1C and the other keytones? The message said that I…

For the past month I've been taking lantus instead of being on my insulin pump. On the pump I was having problems with absorption. I can't wear the infusion sets on my arms or legs because of my sports (bothers me too much) and my stomach has been off duty from all the scare tissue. So I decided to switch to shots to see if I could get better contrl of my numbers. Well that worked for about 2 weeks. My numbers were amazing. I though that everything was going to be a lot better. But for the past…

My name is Morgan, I am 20 years old and I have been a diabetic for 8 years. I am on the Cozmo insulin pump and looking into the Omnipod. I am in my 3rd year at the University of Guelph taking the Child, Youth and Family program.
I still tend to struggle with my diabetes even though its been 8 years but who can ever get use to it!
I love sports. I love music and art even more.
I'm hoping to meet some people who are experiencing what I am experiencing and start to become more comfortable and exce…
