Fourteen Years

Sorry it's been awhile since I've posted, but I recently "celebrated" 14 years with diabetes. I don't celebrate having diabetes, but rather I celebrate my ability to cope with it so well and be healthy after so many years.

Read about my fun and crazy day here.

PSSST! Don't forget to fill out the adults w/ type 1 conference survey!

Hey! Have you filled out the survey about the adults with type 1 conference? We REALLY need a lot of people to fill it out to let us know what you think so we can get this show on the road, so please fill out this survey if you haven't already:

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=LHBQXovJfpB4oJTj1tG0rQ_3d_3d

You'll also have the opportunity to suggest a name for the conference (so we can quit calling it the "adults with type 1 diabetes conference"...) and if your name is cho… Continue

What were you like at 22?

So, as some people may know, I turned 22 yesterday (for those who didn't know, don't worry, there's always next year!).

I found this question on another blog called No Pasa Nada and I would love to hear all of your reactions:

What were you like at 22? And if you're not 22 yet, what do you hope you will be like?

I'm really looking forward to hearing everyone's reactions. I just think it's fascinating that at the same age, we can all be in so many different pla… Continue

As A Whole

Are you a part of a community?

That question (and many others) were discussed at this weekend's BlogHer conference in Chicago, which I attended with about seven hundred other bloggers. It was quite an amazing time and I have written several entries about it on my blog.

I have also a question about the inclusion and exclusion in online communities. Since many of you on Tu Diabetes are new to the diabetes online community, I was hoping… Continue

The Man at the Mall

I came across a man suffering a horrible low blood sugar at the mall on Saturday but I more pissed off by the security guards trying to help him. At least they weren't tasering him or anything! Have you ever had a frustrating encounter with an "official" of some sort when trying to help a person with diabetes... or maybe even yourself? Tell me about it here or at my blog, Lemonade Life.

Manhattan Fun

My mother and younger brother were in town last week and I put up some new pictures from our visits to Manhattan. We went to the Statue of Liberty, Roosevelt Island for the fireworks and saw Spamalot on Broadway.
