Happy World Diabetes Day

I learned something new about TuDiabetes today ... I didn't realise you could add photos to TuDiabetes from your Flickr account. Way cool! So I added a few. For World Diabetes day, I've turned my website blue and blogged a little about diabetes and the great support that's available online. The link is here. I have other noteworthy news too. I've had a hole in my side that's been healing… Continue

Need a clue bat for myself...

I still have the bronchitis and sinus infection I had when I last wrote in December. And now the hole in my side is nearly healed over but is infected. My back is filling up with fluid, and the very last thing we want is for the hole to close over with the inside infected as it would mean they'd have to open it back up again. To bring you up to date, I had breast cancer in 2001, and probably had diabetes back then, but it wasn't checked, even when my surgical scar took ages to heal and develope… Continue

Checking In

I've been 'unwell' for days now, and I'm so tired of it. Last Friday I saw my GP and he diagnosed bronchitis and changed my antibiotics from Keflex (which I still have about a months supply of) to Vibramycin (2 wks worth). He said to go back on the Keflex as soon as I finished the other antibiotics.

Thing is, the fevers I've been having (and accompanying high BGLs) are actually worse this week than they were last week. Amazingly, I can now seem to 'almost' function normally at 37 whic… Continue

Three Quarters of a Year

Today marks 9 months since I had surgery for an abscess in my back, and I'm still recovering from it, with a hole in my side that tracks 11cm deep. I still have regular dressing changes, and my back is a hodge podge of scars and odd swellings. I can't believe it's been this long and although the opening where packing is inserted and measurements are taken is smaller, it's still there, and not showing much sign of going away anytime soon. The depth of the track is actually DEEPER now than it was… Continue

Giving Thanks ... Thanksgiving 2007

Giving Thanks ... Thanksgiving 2007

I don't often write enough about the GOOD things in my life, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to stop and be grateful for the big and little things that make my life so much better than it could be.

I have a wonderful husband, who loves me as much as I love him. His love and caring can pull me through the darkest of days, his sense of humour and silliness brings me giggles any time.

That family and friends are mostly just… Continue

Re-Introducing myself

I have gained so much support and insight from this website. I try to read everyones blogs and forum articles on a regular basis, and this in turn helps me in so many ways. I don't feel as 'alone' or isolated as I used to feel. So I thought I'd re-introduce myself as I feel like a different person from the one who signed in just a few months ago, and there are so many new members these days, who knows, maybe reading about some of the things I've been dealing with can help you too.

I… Continue

Celebrating a good HBA1C / Green Tea

Whoo Hoo! Last week I had my HBA1C taken, and I knew it might be out of kilter because I haven't been well, plus I had a cortisone shot a few weeks ago. Well. My last HBA1C was 6.2, and this one is too!

I've been drinking green tea after meals as I've been able to prove to myself that it really does help lower my glucose levels, and it has probably even made a difference with having had the cortisone too. My diabetes education nurse was expecting my journal entries to be full of spikes… Continue

G'day!

My real blog is at http://randomexperiments.blogspot.com

I also have my glucose levels online on my website at http://gaelyne.com/gr-bgl.php - I do this to keep myself honest and it ensures I keep my records up to date. I also really love Sugarstats.com, which is where I heard about tudiabetes.com

I use green tea to help control my glucose levels and have 2-3 cups of green tea after every meal. I have an infection and recently had a cortisone shot (both of which play havoc on g… Continue
