Ok LOL! From one experiment to the next. :p
This one involves switching meters. (Why? cuz I use least expensive test strips that I can find... That way I can test pretty much "when" I feel I need to as well as the normal test times.) Ok.. So I was using the Optium and am now back to my Easy Check monitor.
ugh!!! I got myself going well. Last night I took a test strip from each and tested. This was at 10pm
Optium 123
Easy Check 150
My first dilemma : Due I take a shot to correct? or leave it alone…

well, I messed it up today. I took my shot and was busy cleaning out cupboards. I forgot to eat! Novolog didn't change the picture for me. I thought it might as I didn't really know how different Humalog and Novolog would be for me. (other than one is cheaper than the other) ok so now I continue to work out the kinks in figuring carbs vs cowboys and indians shooting :p (me)
I think I'm right back to square one. I know what is in it for me. A longer life without feeling like an idiot/ or needing…

I'm sitting here at the computer when I would love to be moving and doing something else.
UGH> Why? cuz I want to catch the emails with Stephen (hubby that is deployed.)
Problem? I sit here and want to munch! I'm totally bored. I've graded all the kids papers and now I am just plain, really bored!
I don't need to be putting anything in my mouth!!!! sigh... What can I be busy with instead?
sigh... whine,,,,,

Hey All,
I've got a little problem. Cold hands, my fingers don't want to give up a single drop of blood for the meter! If I get my hands warmed up with hot water; it seems like my numbers go up too. If I warm my hands by tucking them under my arms; then my numbers actually sound right. I"m just tired of cold fingers.
Do any of you have this problem? Is it just me? What do you do?

I am a type 2 with Humalog and Lantus at my finger tips:) (I'm on one vial and have one to use of Humalog then have to switch to Novalog due to Military Ins and what is available on base.)
So, I'm sitting here trying to figure meals... and basically come to the conclusion that I will stick with what works for me:) As long as my doc is willing to work with me to get this night time mess under control. Of course, we both have our limitations. His limitations being : My nasty night/early morning nu…

Guys and Gals?
I just cannot wrap my mind around how to do this. I "hear" that it really helps to even out the numbers. I just cannot seem to figure out the "how to's" of it.
I am home most every day. I'm fearful that if I pull food out 6 times a day... my kids will think "time to eat" and start gaining weight or just not "doing" what they should be doing.
Would anyone mind giving me ideas of how these meals get split? Suggestions of any kind are welcome:)

My doc is awesome! LOL! I know... we don't hear that very often. I went in for my check up and brought my SugarStats.com print out with me for the past 3 months. He showed me where I could raise my insulin and adjust as I need it:) We worked out how to get everything I need with prescriptions on base til Stephen is deactivated too:)
My Doc is actually making it easier for me to deal with this"D" than I thought was possible. For the first time.. I after years of this before finally walking into t…

I'm so excited! My sweetheart is finally on his way home fore 15 day leave!
Everyone is so "ramped" up here. I am just trying to keep an even path for us. We have no idea where he is
in route. Just a quick call saying he loves us! He is gonna drive me nuts! (LOL! as if he didn't the day he asked me to marry him.) I'm gonna be sitting here close to the phone so I don't miss that next call.

I'm not sure if I messed up or not. I just found a sale on test strips from diabetesstore.com. They have strips that are still good; but on a short date. I wasnt paying attention and put in for more teststrips than I thought.
My question : If the date is good til October 09, will they last longer than that? Should I put them in the fridge to "help keep them longer?"
Please let me know what you think.

I found one of those "AHA" Moments! This is what I snagged for Breakfast today :
Lowfat cottage cheese half cup, Lowfat/Fat Free Yogurt 1/4 cup and one Sugar Free Jellos Singles.
Mixed together for a cheesecake tasting bowl of Pudding? hmmm not sure what to call it. It really
does taste great and the texture is satisfying:)

Am I looking at this correctly? Dr told me 7 units per day. I can take it at night or split it. I've decided to split it 4 at night when I spike the worst and 3 in the morning. How long should this 10ML vial last before I have to go back? ugh... I just can not come up with the co-pays! Have I already done myself in?
My numbers are looking so much better in the mornings:) If I take the full 7 units at night; I wake up sweaty wet hair in the morning.. That is why I decided to do the split. With th…

Yeah, I know; been a while again.
Always plenty on my plate; nothing new.
Stephen has been deployed for two months now. I miss him dearly. Kandahar has been a rougher assignment here at home than any of his other deployments. Maybe, because the kids are older... yet some are young and really just now beginning to ask questions that I'm used to.
I finally broke down and took the Tricare Ins... went and saw a Dr. I told him I had Humalog at home and used it occasionally. I told him I'd like some L…

I just want to talk about my plan to survive for now. Stephen deployed yesterday. Finances are more than tight. Bills are unpaid. Siding popped from the house was noticed today. One kiddo with an earache. Boy do I miss my sweetie!
At least pay will come in and things will be a little late; still paid though:) I"m going to start testing only in the evenings. I know that mornings are always high; I'll skip testing and just take 5 units of insulin til it runs out. I'll skip testing lunch and just m…

OK Sweetness, you're not supposed to do this. I wake up and toodle around the house for an hour... You give me a 228? for my bloodsugar number? That is not nice. Now, I've fed the kids, washed dishes, started schoolwork for the kids and sat down to test this number again. It's been 2 1/2 hours, Sweetie. What's up besides another bad number? 213? What are you doing to me? I really dont want to take an insulin shot. I'll run out and then I won't be able to buy anymore. You need to chill out and giv…

Anyway, I guess maybe I should check my bloodsugar more often when I'm totally stressed. sigh.... I have no idea why I tested at 296 a few minutes ago. I had a really great low carb lunch and should be registering around 120 to 135 tops. Here is the kicker though... My 15 yr old son has been stressing me out all day. It's scary. My cheapy glucometer is an Easy Check it also registers with question marks and if high enough will add the word keytones. sigh...

Hi Everyone,
This is in response to a need to meet up via short comments to give a long distance hug or in some way lighten the burden of someones load. For some of us; it is a health issue of a family member or one of our own needs.
For some it is military deployment of a loved one. Or, financial burdens or insurance hassles and we need a spot to vent and just "share" the common frustration of it all.
To this, Let's start our "Do Lunch" for 2009. Let's encourage each other as we open our hearts…

I've been slowly going thru my supply of needles... not taking shots if my number was close enough to skip it.
Finances really work wonders on skipping shots! My numbers got a bit up before I went to court so I figured I needed to take the shot even if we really cant afford this "D"
I got shaky, dizzy and generally felt horrible. I know I was careful to measure my dose! That was scary. I didn't exactly think about the recall. My boxes are totally different lot numbers. Three highs later and thre…

I haven't been at this "D" for long. I'm already bored with my choices for meals.Does anyone else get bored with food choices?
I do know that I like to have fairly even carb/protein meal for breakfast. Lately, I've wished that I could just have a quick drink of "something" and be done with thinking about it. I confess to wishing for a coffee drink or sometimes a cold drink (like a shake)
When I want a shake; I make a fresh smoothie.
I've no idea how to make a balanced, breakfast "meal" kind of h…

Ok I'm mad! Just before dinner I get a call from my sons' psych. He says " Because we (counselor and he) disagree with the fact that the judge returned your son to you; we no longer feel that we can provide counsel and medicine for your family. You need to find another dr and counselor."
GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!! The way things are now; medicaid stinks!!!! How in the world do we find a Dr and counselor in the same office to deal with two children that need constant medical upkeep in psychotic…

If you've been following my dilema for the past 6 months.... We went to court this morning... The judge threw the case out! I got my son home today!!!!! I"m such a happy momma!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank God for His opening they eyes and ears of the judge. He is so awesome how He takes care of us:)
I would still appreciate your prayers as we readjust my son to home life. We will need to find new counselors and Dr as I'm sure that since they were the ones to make the accusations... It wont look goo…
