Diabetes Research Institute 2.0 - My 2 Cents

On Saturday I had the opportunity to go to the Diabetes Research Institute's 2.0 Connecting the Community. I was lucky enough to meet Manny there at this event. There were some big time d-bloggers there and a lot of great information there. Check out my blog for my 2 cents on it. http://thelifeofadiabetic.com/ I'm sure the other people will be giving more information as well. Continue

Back on the Job Hunt

Well, I am back on the hunt for a new job. My 2 1/2 year stint that I had with the diabetes company I was working has ended as of Tuesday. The main thing that I am concerned about is picking up insurance. If anybody has any information on Cobra for me, please send it over to me, any information at all that you may have. I will try to keep you all updated on how things are going. Thank you for any help any of you may have. Continue

A New Baby in my Life

Today was a great day, my first niece was born. Sylvia was born at about 3:30 in the morning. It is my brother's first child, so therefore my first niece. It still hasn't sunk in yet because they live in PA and I haven't been able to get up there and meet my new little niece. As soon as I get new pictures of her, I will put them up. She was a healthy little baby girl, I don't remember the size or weight, I get them confused. What can I say, I'm a guy who knows nothing about babies. Continue

I had a chance to interview the local events coordinator for my local chapter of JDRF, the Greater West Palm Beach Chapter. Her daughter also lives with diabetes, but how she became involved with JDRF and how her daughter was diagnosed has a little weird story to it. Here is my interview: 1. How long have you been with JDRF? * I’ve been with JDRF for 10 years. 2. How did you get started? * I’ve worked for another non-profit in the past (St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital) and so I know ho… Continue

Living as a diabetic vs. dying of diabetes

I trully believe, as majority of you do as well, that you can control your diabetes and not let your diabetes control you. After saying the word diabetic a lot the past few days, I realized that the word die is said a lot. So, I've decided to go with "live"-abetic. Read the rest of my thoughts at The Life of a Diabetic. Who Influenced You to Blog?

Who was the very first person that influenced you to blog? I want to hear everybody's thoughts on this. I am at a social media conference and the keynote was talking about being an influencer, so now I am curious to see who those people are in the diabetes community. My guess is that the major influencer here is going to be Manny, which is clear that Manny is an amazing influence to people. But are there others? Continue

Gone from TuDiabetes For Too Long

When I first heard of TuDiabetes way back in 2007 I became active on here, blogging, meeting people, forums, etc. Then I started to fade away from it. I became very close with my local diabetes community, but lost connection with everyone out there that TuDiabetes has opened the doors to meet and share stories with. I've decided that I really want to be searching around in here more often again because it helped me with a lot of difficulties that I was going through at that time. What to do and… Continue
