Does anyone know of how you can get test strips at a discount instead of paying 72.00 or more when you haven't met your deductiable yet.

ebay. just put in the name of the strips and it will pull up all auctions. thats how i bought mine before it got cheaper with insurance. just be sure to check the expiration date listed before you buy. i made a mistake on one deal and all the strips expired in 2 months and there was no way i could use them all. no wonder they were so cheap! good luck

Walmart has off-brand meters with really cheap strips. Many of my uninsured patients pay cash for those strips, and they are happy with the machine. It may not have all the bells and whistles of some of the other monitors, but it gets the job done.

You can also get a lot of brand name ones on American Diabetes Wholesale. I don't get test strips from them, but I do buy a lot of other stuff. Here is the link to the test strip section. If you are looking for a certain brand, you can narrow it down. They have 28 pages of test strips!

When you see an add for a free better get it. I have 2 accu-chek plus and two one touch. A friend's father was misdiagnosed and gave me his strips for accu-chek plus.I have used expired strips (1 month pass date) and compared them to strips with strips with longer expiration date and there was no difference.

we use freestyle and they have a discount program called FreeStyle Promise. With this program we now get 300 strips for $15 instead of paying our usual $40 copay. I think OneTouch may have a similar program. Worth looking in to.
