Was channeling Mom today in getting my little post-op nest set up-pounded lots of new holes to re-hang pictures in my workshop that has been discombobulated for months since giving away all my silks and beads. Managed to update family shots that reflect JOY!. Mom and I used to LOVE to put new holes in the wall! Hospital bed goes in there tomorrow so I can get it all set up for Homecoming on Friday.
Got new walking shoes with Velcro yesterday, long-handled shoehorn, sock assist, grab-it extension and walker basket. Physical Therapy goes on for 13 weeks. Sort of have to learn to walk again.
Have been doing my workouts with Pema Chodrun readings every AM and ending with Tai Chi. The workouts have included specific TKR exercises for a long time. My legs feel strong, which is good. And after lunch, even with the cane, can still do a mile and connect with all my Furry Friends in the neighborhood. They all know the clicking sound of my walking stick now and perk up in anticipation of a cat or dog treat. Sweeties.
Dealing with Kaiser has been a challenge in certain areas, but child of the 50s and 60s that I am, well, I made myself a persistent nuisance. It was at once frustrating and satisfying to challenge their assumptions, many of which I consider uncivilized. Won some, lost some. So it goes. I seem to recall Nero Wolfe commenting at some point on the Value of Nuisance!
Surgeon was kind and gentle unexpectedly at last meetup. NO steroids involved which I obsessed on with fear for awhile. My PCP and D met and we are all on the same page if anything goes wrong. Remember D had to be the one to "pull the plug" on his little sister several years ago and no hospital visit is casual!
Found an affordable neighborhood spa for massage and footsoak and keeping up my Working Class Acupuncture. These will help. WCA has folks that will come to me post-op! Every little bit helps.
Don’t know what else. Suddenly it’s time………Love you all…With all the best intentions in the world, don't trust The System. Trustyou all. Depend on you all...xx000

Comment by Judith on March 23, 2012 at 5:11pm Blessings, Nel. The knee heals very well, the rest of me is a bit of a mess: Two weeks of nausea and throwing up almost every meal--that's just settling this week. Have managed a good walk-around my big yard twice--hooray. Just this past week also finally got some fasting BS #s under 100--whew!.....Hadn't anticipated the ongoing exhaustion--every activity needs a nap follow-up. The pain meds also take a toll. Can barely sit up long enough to write this.
But have accumulated photos for a new album and an abbreviated journal for a fresh post-op blog----soon, I hope. Meanwhile, I'm here for short visits 2-3 times/day, lurking!...Love to all...

Comment by Judith on March 28, 2012 at 3:24pm Well, perhaps "too good to be true" applies. Came home from PT on Monday and collapsed with vomiting, racing pulse, respiratory difficulties, shakiness. Barely slept. D on phone to advice nurse several times. Tuesday still very weak, with no appetite. Feeling better today. Most depressing, though, is that my healing process had been going so well. Sigh.

Comment by jrtpup on March 28, 2012 at 3:55pm Poor baby Judith ;( How frustrating. Glad you're feeling better today. I guess it's two steps forward and one back... can you dance that yet? Sending healing energy.
Comment by BadMoonT2 on March 28, 2012 at 5:25pm Judith, sorry to hear of your frustration, but it's nice to hear from you just the same. Keep us posted
Comment by Trudy on March 28, 2012 at 5:27pm Hi Judith. I'm so sorry about these nasty problems; I hope that time will help to take care of them very soon. I'm glad your knee is healing well. Combining my healing energy with jrtpup's...
