Starting over
So my GP appointment was yesterday. My GP answered alot of my questions, and drew some blood. I'm scheduled to see an Endocrinologist in a few weeks, so that is going to be interesting. But, all in all, I do feel somewhat better about this journey now that I've taken the first several steps so to speak. Sadly, my GP told me that I shall need a Program change at school, as what I'm taking classes for (Paramedic), does not allow an insulin dependent diabetic to partake in the career. Overall, this new diagnosis has done so much to me, such as taken away my family willingness to see me, and now it seems, my career choice. And now it is time to start over I guess.

I'm so sorry that you'll have to change careers...prayers and thoughts for you as you deal with that loss and all the other stresses that come along with this experience.

So sorry but I had to start over again too about 30 years ago when I wanted to be a nurse. According to the times then I would go low and get the meds confused so I just put my time into being a full time parent back then.

50+ years ago they told a little girl named Sonia Sotomayor that since she had diabetes she couldn't be a police officer like she originally wanted.
So she settled for her second choice, being a Justice on the US Supreme Court :-)

Oh yes, I plan to take the Endocrinologist seriously.
It is sad that many people have their dreams shattered due to something like this. I looked up this lady - Sonia, she has an interesting story, really makes one think.
Maybe not all is lost for me, my family and friends - yes. But I've talked to one of the ambulance services, and if my GP and Endo approve, I can work for them when it comes time. If not approved, I still can use skills in the A&E.
