D&D #15 - Turned 100

Okay, so I didn't turn 100. I did have my 100 anniversary for dialysis on yesterday. I have made it through 100 dialysis sessions. Yea me!!

Actually I do think it's something to be a little proud of. That means I have spent over 400 hours with my butt glued to that chair sleeping and watching TV. Now you can ask any man and they will tell you that is quite an accomplishment. Most of the time the nagger-in-chief will walk in and wake us up.

Now to be honest my wife is a)not a nagger and b)very seldom wakes me up. But it does make for one heck of a joke now don't it.

Although I am starting to worry that all of that sleeping in the chair at dialysis is affecting my sleeping at night. Here of late the night after dialysis I barely sleep. Now I get up early in the morning to go to work. I usually try to be up by 0130 (that is 1:30AM for you non-military types).

Did I say that I get up early in the morning?

If you don't sleep much the night before that can make you just a little bit tired. Now I have about a 40 minute ride to work and that can make dodging the deer rather interesting. I certainly hope one of us is awake. And did you know that the sun is not up that time of the morning? I mean really.

Oh, speaking of the deer, I made a poster that I hung up at work. It said something about not needing a play station, not needing a wii, not needing an x-box. All you need is a vehicle. Deer Pong 2013! Of course in this game the idea is NOT to hit the four legged fury critters. The more you miss the better vehicle you get to drive. Hit one and you go back to the beginning and drive a clunker. Of course if your driving a clunker it kind of defeats the idea of missing them. After all...your driving a clunker.

Sorry. Okay back to our regularly scheduled program.

There are still problems using the access in my right arm. Seems that there is only one nurse who can hit the thing with both needles. I the treatment I had Saturday I think they forgot to give me my bolus of heprin (blood thinner) and I clogged the whole works up. One of the nurses thought that repeatedly moving the needles all around would solve all the issues. The result is that the lower half of my right arm below the elbow is this really pretty shade of purple and green. Now my arm matches all the purple spots on my abdomen where I inject insulin.

Yes I am just a very colorful person ain't I.

I go back to see the surgeon next week to see if the vein in my arm is growing roots. I guess these fistulas can actually start to branch out and that will rob the access of the blood flow it needs to be effective.

I always was an over achiever...lol.

I will update this blog next week after I hear from the surgeon and find out if more surgery will be required. In the meantime we are using the catheter since my arm is so bruised. They are worried that while inserting a needle that they might shove a clot either in the needle or into my vein.
