HELP ME PLEASE!!!

Comment by Stemwinder on January 19, 2013 at 8:48pm A good reduced carb diet might be of help along with good tight control to avoid lows. Avoiding excess carbs will help with weight gain from insulin use.
I suspect that Kim Kardashian's physique is the result of loads of exercise to tone muscles and a good diet. And a few good genes added in probably doesn't hurt either.

Comment by Gerri on January 19, 2013 at 9:52pm It's hard to accept our bodies when we're surrounded by ridiculous role models, who are usually surgically enhanced. Glad you don't want to be skinny. Growing up in NYC, I saw fashion models frequently. They may look great in photos, but sickly & creepy in person.
Lowering carbs is the best way I know to lose weight & control diabetes. Less carbs=less insulin.
Comment by acidrock23 on January 20, 2013 at 7:56am I understand feeling like that as I was up to about 275 lbs maybe jeez, 8-10 years ago. I lost quite a bit of it but it has been a very slow process for me. I agree with Gerri and Stemwinder about reducing carbs being a reasonable approach. In this, I sort of suspect that diabetes can be an advantage, as you should be counting carbs anyway and, while perhaps not as easy as it sounds, if you cound less of them, you should be able to start seeing if that will help you lose weight?
There was an interesting video on CNN a week or so ago about a supermodel who is pretty critical about the modelling "perspective" and advocates a more realistic view of herself: http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/bestoftv/2013/01/09/exp-point-russ...
Comment by Brian (bsc) on January 20, 2013 at 8:52am I am a real fan of low carb diets to lose body fat and become lean. But the other part is that your body appearance depends on looking fit. Exercise, particularly things like weightlifting can increase your muscle mass. And if you lose fat and gain muscle mass, even if your weight does not change, will make you look better.

Comment by joefcole on January 20, 2013 at 2:57pm I am pretty lean. What I do, it works for me, is to set a goal of how much insulin I am going to use in a day and keeping your blood glucose in the right zone. So that means eating healthy and low carbs. You should also try yoga and weight exercise.
I worked in the model and talent industry for many years. To make any money at it you need to be exceptional and unique. My philosophy is that unless you are naturally thin, you really shouldnt subject your body to the modelling industry. The people that I deal with, if they are to heavy to model get put into TV commercials and TV/Movie productions where the money is anyway. Modelling is a short term career, where as TV/Film can go on indefinately. Take a good look at some of the best actors, they are not always thin and fit, and they are not always good looking either, it is all about talent which is more important.
