Apparently, I was in a melancholy diabetes mood when I said this to my 7 year old son at dinner the other night:

me: Honey, you know that mom would take away your diabetes and give it to me if I could.

Alex: (expression of disbelief and panic) WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT????? I like my diabetes. I like myself just like I am.

me: Really? Well that's great but I would still take it away if I could.

A couple of silent moments go by........

Alex: But mom, if you would like to have it WITH me, that would be okay. Then we could both be in it together!

OMG, goosebumps.

Breaks my heart when little ones are diabetics, they are sooooo brave.
