Recently, I've been doing a lot of machine applique. In this technique, you must only focus on the fraction of an inch right in front of your needle, and not worry about what's coming up next or how complicated your applique is. I'm going to get a dental implant on May 20, and I'm terrified. Maybe I need to do some more machine applique.

Well, it is surely a perfectly lovely result of fear, but I don't recommend dental appointments as a motivator in general! Hah! I know what you mean, though. Sometimes the intensity of focus on an activity can take you out of yourself. It's wonderful, isn't it?

And I do empathisize---I've got an extraction and a filling in the same appointment June 13 and already dreading it. The combo of diabetes and fibromyalgia can mess up getting over these things no matter how good my dentist is. Ah well......

Take care and do keep sewing!.....Judith in Portland
