TuDiabetes - A Community for People Touched by Diabetes

I have some fabulous news. I am going to get a service dog. I found a reputable organization to go with and i am getting Gus. I think this will help me to find the balance i need. I do have to raise $7500.00 for the dog but i have raised a couple thousand already by myself. I am so happy that i will be able to have my freedom back . I am also trying some things other people have suggested. I can't begin to explain how wonderful it has been to have the support of everyone on here. I really had some days where i was doubting i would be able to get what i needed for my hypoglycemia unawareness. I feel i have finally found a solution. I know the doctors are still messing around with my pump basals rates. I have had over 8 changes in a month and i get more out of control each time. Hopefully i will be able to find that balance soon. Here is the website with the picture of the service dog i am getting. http://www.bethedenkennels.com/puppies.html. Thanks everyone for all the support. This is a link where you can purchase items and a percentage of the purchase goes to my fund raiser. http://www.iGive.com/Betheden

I am interested in seeing how this goes for you. It is an amazing concept to me. When are you thinking you will get him?

Tarra, I'm really moved by the turnaround in your story. Almost cried as I read it and I'm not usually such a sap! I just know that you'll get the help you need.

Well, my dear, this is a hopeful update! I have seen a news segment about the service dogs for diabetes and was incredibly impressed. Will you post lots of pictures for us? The things they can do are astonishing.

One of our members is raising money for a pump through the iGive site in which your friends can shop and a percentage of their purchase goes to your cause. It adds up slowly, of course, but it might help. The list of participating businesses is long and varied. I'm a big reader and give a lot of books as gifts, so I always buy them through iGive, for instance. Here's a link to the site:

I'll be thinking of you.....Judith in Portland.....
