The Diagnoses in 1996
I was diagnosed by chance (thank goodness!). My wife forced me to visit a doctor prior to going on a camping trip in the Rocky Mountains. I was having symptoms of leg cramps, rapid weight-loss, cuts that would not heal, and a thirst that I just could not quench. Much to my surprise when I visited the doctor for testing, I was sent directly to the emergency room. My blood sugar was about 550ml, and from that point forward I have been a Type I Diabetic.
