Glucagon is glucose in powder form. I comes with a pre filled syringe of sterile water, you inject into the vial of powder glucose, mix it together and then draw it back up in the syringe. It temporarily raises your blood sugar, for me it usually wears off in about 15 min, so after taking it I have about 15 min to get my something in me to stabilize my sugar.
