Today REALLY felt like spring outside in the bay Area... but in sharp contrast with the gorgeous day outside, today was the day of the funeral for the 4 fallen Oakland Police officers who were mourned @ the Oakland Arena. On my way to my appointment, I drove past the caravan that was bringing some of them (or some of the dignataries that attended) into the ceremony. I felt the hair in the back of my head stand... it was such a sad feeling...
Then again, today too was my follow-up appt. with my endo. I made the conscious decision to stick with Dr. Linde in Palo Alto, though it's not precisely the nearest endo, but I am SO happy with him and his shared medical appointments that I don't see a reason why I can't put up with the commute from Berkeley to see him once every three months.

I got my A1C back: I am now @ 6.9, which I am not proud of, but it's the result of the things I am doing (and not doing):
-I am stressing up a lot. Need to apply my own suggestions.
-I have been walking more than before since we moved to Berkeley, but it's still not enough. For the past week, Andreina has gotten me into Turbo Jam, which has shown visible results: my 7-day average went down from 148 to 135. And it will keep going down...
-... because my endo also wants me (and I am ready for the leap too) to research CGM options, so I can take advantage of the technology. Changes in insurance have led me to keep postponing this, but it is my goal to determine the direction I will be going in with regards to CGM before July.

I owe it to myself, to my family, to you guys in the community and... even to those fallen officers, to bring my A1C back in the low 6's again, where it was a little over a year ago.

Hey Manny,

I don't know that 6.9 for your HbA1C is anything to be upset with, over here in the UK my consultant would be quite happy with that. Our target is 6-7% and surely the added benefits of being lower in that range are negligible really!

Manny, I'm glad to hear you have an endo who is encouraging you to get a CGM. Mine is not supportive because he's with the HMO. Sorry your A1c is not where you'd like it to be. I know I'd be very happy with 6.9 but we all have our individual goals. It sounds like you are headed in the right direction.

I hear you. You know I made a similar leap recently. I think that it was caused by similar factors and propose similar solutions.

My endo (who does not usually show any emotion) was particularly encouraging during my visit last week. He told me, the good news is that if I did it before, then we all know that I can do it again. That filled me with the motivation that I needed.

You did it before. You CAN do it again.

And you are not alone ;)

My heart goes out to the families of these fallen officers. I know too well what they are going through. My son is a police officer and SWAT . I worry each and everyday that he is on duty and pray that he stays safe till his shift is over. Keep him in your prayers too guys(his pics are on my site). Manny I am proud of that 6.9 at keast you can say that you are under 7! Keep up the good work on working out! Go, Manny, go!

At this point, I would die of fright if I finally got to 6.9. I was 7.9 last time. It might be worse this time. I'm having trouble controlling it because of my physical disabilities and emotional hang-ups. I stuff my face for comfort and use the excuse of not liking or knowing how to really plan a good meal. I hate cooking for myself. If I could live life with a microwave stuck to my side, I would be most happy! And then, I write to try to encourage others to bring it under control. But, you know, once you gain control it's easier to keep it there. Once you lose control, it's gets a little hard to "get it back" again.

Don't worry, be happy.

I don't watch the news or read the papers....too depressing. I'm saddened by the loss of such lives. People who gave the ultimate price to protect slimeballs who only want to kill them.????

Take care and keep working at it.

Manny 6.9 is really great esp for where you are. i wanna be lower all the time for sure and fewer highs and lows but ... that's really good that you are doing turbo jam, i'm going to go look at it! i got the SEVEN PLUS recently and honestly it's amazing, the best part is that it helps me behave better (and i need a lot of help). take good care and thank you for that picture and those thoughts.

I feel for those who have lost the ones they love. It does remind us to appreciate and show our love to those around us.

As far as you A1c is concerned, I know you will be able to accomplish anything you put your mind to!

Awesome, Manny! But I'm sad for your experience passing the funeral services. The trees blooming were a sign of God's greatness. A remembrance of the 4 fallen officers. Sending some sunshine your way. Patti L.
