I know averages aren't everything, but my 7-day meter average this morning was 5.8 (104 mg/dl).
I have never had an average that low in my entire life! Ever! I had to double-check when I looked at it.
I've had a few averages in the upper 6s in the past, if I've worked really hard, but never in the 5s or even close.
I'm continuing to lower pump settings. My basal rate has gone from about 32 units to about 28, and my I:C ratio and ISF have gone from 1:6 and 1.2 (22 mg/dl) to 1:10 and 2.0 (36 mg/dl). And I'm still having lows and hardly any highs at all. Probably because I'm actually getting insulin properly now!
I never in a million years would have thought irritated infusion sets could make such a difference. The readings I am getting now are more stable than the ones I got before when I was eating 50g of carbs a day (and I'm not even eating low carb right now!). It's like I have a whole different diabetes. I feel like I did when I started the pump all over again, amazed every time I test.
I'll be getting my next A1c done in seven weeks or so. Who knows what my averages might be by then!
