I am new to TuDiabetes. I have been on Metformin for a few years & last December my Dr put me on Byetta. I have lost some weight but am kinda at a holding point. I have a question. When I take my Byetta injection, I have noticed that there is Byetta slowly dripping from the needle. I used to never see this but with this pen I have. Do you think it may just be the pen & do you think I am getting the medicine? Sometimes I feel like it curbs my appetite & other times it doesnt. Has anyone had these symptoms?

you mean that byetta is leaking from the need itself without you pushing the plunger? if so that to me is a falty needle and should be replaced asap since that means its possible that its effecting the potency of the drug you've been put on .. if in dought best to call up your doc and just flat out ask him/her about it for the best medical opinion.

I will sometimes see a small drop form after the byetta injection, I just don't worry about it. What I do is inject, and count out 5 seconds, then pulling out the needle. When you depress the pen (any pen, byetta or insulin), the insulin is pushed through the needle under pressure. You need to give the byetta time to absorb and for the pressure to dissipate. If you just pull it right out, the byetta can seep out of the injection point under pressure. The remaining drop from the pen is probably just a little residual pressure . I would not worry about it.

In my experience, Byetta causes a full feeling and delayed stomach emptying.

The Byetta pen drips after I do my injection. When I give it I count out 5 seconds too & then when I pull it out it drips. I guess the drip is normal just seems like I never noticed it so much before. Do you always give it in your abdomen? I have not injected in my upper leg or arm.
