Camping with Newly Diagnosed 6 year old

Hey Everyone,
I was hoping someone has had some experience camping with the Omnipod. We have a camping trip scheduled for July 13 and we will be starting the Omnipod on July 6th. (I know we are cutting it very close). I was hoping to get some feedback on what we should pack, food ideas, experiences, etc. Anything would be helpful. My son was diagnosed on 04/02/12, so this is all very new to us.

I have not yet tried the omnipod, but I have gone camping with a pump. Just make sure you have enough insulin, site changes because more is always better to carry while away from home, and a backup method of insulin delivery in case anything should happen and the omni stops working. Make sure you have glucagon and glucose tabs or gel to treat low (those are easiest and fastest). PB&J sammies are always good cause they have protein, so less of a sugar spike from the bread. Also, since you're camping, burgers and dogs are also good. MSG me if you have any more questions. I have had diabetes since I was 10 months old, and I'm 19 now. ;)
