dear haters............................................................................................

Many people think im a freak. I have been teased since i can remember. The thing all my haters should know are these....
1) All famouse people have haters so i must be famouse :)
2) Your coments have made me a stronger person
3) I'm not going to change who i am because you dont like me
4) And the last thing is im sorry for what ever you have been bullied about. Most bullies have been bullied too.

Call me names i really dont care. Try to change me it wont work. Hurt me, watch me cry but the tears you see are tears of joy. those tears i cry have made me strong and to remind me i belong. So THANK YOU for making me famouse :)

I remember that age but 1) was a boy and 2) it was the late 1970s and long hair and metal (i.e. Rush, Black Sabbath, Van Halen...) was "in" so maybe it was a bit easier to be freaky? When you and your peers are old, the people who are not freaking out a bit now, are going to be SUPER BORING!!

Don't let the folks who pick on you get to you. Be you, be happy you are you and take care of yourself. Generally, folks who are saying things are doing so becuase they feel bad about themselves and feel that by doing that to you, they feel better about themselves. As you get older, you'll notice you're the happier of the bunch.

hi Anna ~

Most people who tease do so because they have no clue what it is to be unique. My guess is that they tease you because you are careful about what you eat, you test, you take your insulin and you live like nothing is wrong. Yes, you have your highs and lows and you manage them accordingly. Their perception is that you get special treatment. You are very wise to learn from them and not to pay much attention to it.

From the small sliver of your life that you show here, I have always thought you are a pretty cool kid. Your parents are, no doubt, proud of you and want the best for you. Most parents feel that way about their children, and you will too, someday. You have something that most people don't have. It has made you ill, yes, but it has also made you stronger, more in touch with life, and a resilient when ridiculed, and alert to your surroundings. You are doing just fine.

Sometimes, it's good to be diabetic.

Be well.

Being unique too often makes people targets. The theme in life for most is fitting in. It takes different forms. Some have no convictions, flip-flop to agree & follow to get along fearing isolation & criticism. They have to be in the middle of everything with comments to gain acceptance & attention. Sad, pitiful really, because they don't know how to be alone with themselves. They're weak. Trashing someone is a cheap shot to make them feel superior when inside they know they're not. You keep your beautiful head high & look them all square in the eyes.

Way to go girl... Most people who bullies and make fun of others are people who do not understand. They simply don't have the capability to, does not want to learn or refuse to do so...sad. They actually may have bigger problems than you do. They themselves may seek understanding but cannot achieve it thus hurting others to compensate for the void they have. People who loves and understand us makes us stronger...Learning from mistakes makes us better persons. Uniqueness makes us more special!

I don't know if you are in public school but this happened to my daughter. I put her in independent study and it changed her life for the better. Good luck to you Anna!

Sometimes these problems can seem like they will last forever. But honestly they do go away. As you get older, you'll find others who are like-minded, more tolerant, and actually respect quirky behaviours.

Flatter me, and I may not believe you.
Criticize me, and I may not like you.
Ignore me, and I may not forgive you.
Encourage me, and I will not forget you.
Love me and I may be forced to love you.
