Hey, My name is Kyle Cochran. I have been Type 1 since I was 5 and I'm now 25. I compete on NBC's American Ninja Warrior. I'm the only diabetic on the show. My main motivation for competing is to hopefully inspire diabetics and others to never let their obstacles stop them from doing what they love. Metaphorically, I want people to be challenged to overcome their obstacles as they watch me overcome mine. I believe that diabetes is not a curse to hold us down, but an opportunity to shine brightly through the darkness. I'm grateful for my diabetes because it has crafted me into the person I am.

I joined tudiabetes because I love to connect with other diabetics to swap stories, tricks and tips. Feel free to ask me anything or add me as a friend!

I'm new to tudiabetes and I'm still trying to figure out how it all works so please be patient with me.

Welcome to Tudiabetes! I do remember seeing you on Ninja Warrior. Its nice to see a famous person like yourself on this site! I have seen the show and occasionally thought "Hey I could do that!" then I trip going down the stairs and I rethink that statement. You are a great inspiration to people with diabetes. You prove that diabetes shouldn't hold anyone back.

I think you'll find this site to be a great resource. There are many people here who have had diabetes longer than we have been alive. They are great people to ask if you have any question about management. I honestly trust the people here more than I trust my endo (but don't let her know that)

I am 21 years old and like yourself I was dx'd when I was 5 years old. I'm sure we could swap some stories if you'd like.

Again welcome to TuD and I hope you'll enjoy your stay. Oh and don't forget to check out the chat. we get some crazy people on there.

Welcome, my dear. Be sure to check out all our diverse groups and don't hesitate to dive into any discussion, old or new. I know we have a Martial Arts Group, as well as several for diabetics who do extreme sports of various kinds....Blessings on you and yours...Judith in Portland

My 8 years old is a FAN of ANW. He was dx before his 5th birthday. We watched you complete the obstacle course in last night's opener. I love having him see adult role models that are type 1; Jay Cutler, Chris Dudley, race car driver Charlie Kimball and many others. He even met Bret Michaels!!! My son is an athlete and I'm happy that he'll have resources as he gets older.
Best of luck to you this 2014 season!!!
