Imagine anyone having bother with the British. Before you all go haywire, I have many british friends and family, I just can't imagine how anyone would have any bother with gaining iindepence from them. I say this in jest ; )

i watched a show on the military channel yesterday about our war with england. learned a few things. like paul revere didn't say the british are coming, he said the regulars are coming and sometimes the redcoats are coming. the reason was because the town he was saying it in was british to the core, they just resented being told what to do by a king who kept raising their taxes. at that point they weren't ready to seperate from england they just wanted to be treated better. what can i say, i like to learn about history.
my family is from maine and if anyone could have the british stiff upper lip they could. when i was little i could have sworn there was more starch in my grandmother's upper lip then in her petticoats. i think she coined the phrase children should be seen and not heard. by the way, i hated sitting on the old horsehair couch in the front parlor.

Haha, Josephine, my husband is British and he keeps telling me it's "Traitor Day." I am trying to get him to watch the movie 1776 which is a fabulous musical about the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Scones - nup. I prefer a nice moist muffin. I have never tasted Irish Muffin though. Not yet anyway.
It would have to be a treat, a special treat as I have forsaken all such delights.

YEAST, the bane of our lives, blasphemy. I love going for tea and scones in those English tearooms, lovely. Went to one i Dublin, they were trying to be very English. The tea and the scone were the price of a small country. The lavatory was lovely though, lovely wallpaper.

Josephine,

We all share a common lanuage and an unual amount of history togeth as countries - it was that darn King that just wouldn't leave us alone. I am more partial to scones with more yeast than the ones the Irish make. They are best freash from the oven - I also add blueberries in mine. Basic scone 45-60 grams carbs and 20 grams of fruit, but well worth the extra insulin.(8-10 units) Yum YUM!!

Yes put him in his place Suz, as I often told Lois, Irish scones are the ultimate in scones, she ended up having to agree. Im just waiting for some lovely Brits to come on. Oh such lively banter.

I was given a funny card at work the other day that said "to the all american girl". It came from a client but it was funny as heck since I am both a US and Irish citizen. I should make some scones to celebrate the mix of heritages, hahaha! My husband says I am british all the time to get under my skin. I just glare at him and remind him he is an appalachian mountain man so he best shut up :)
