Quick blog...
Early Thursday, I phoned my pharmacy to refill my Novolog insulin. The lab technician replied that I had no more refills and they would have to fax my doctor to get his approval. "Okay, no problem I will be picking this up over the weekend." Not a big deal, right? Today (Sunday) comes along, I cruise through the drive through pick up window, ring the service bell, the Pharmacist comes to the window and I say "I am here to pick up my Novolog insulin that I phoned in on Thursday." The Pharmacist replies "okay, let me check the computer." He is typing away for a few moments... he returns and says "Danny, I am sorry but we have tried faxing your Doctor twice with no response." My doctor is usually on top of the fax's from my pharmacy. I reply to the pharmacist "wow, could you double check?...are you sure?" He goes back to the computer for a few moments, he returns and says " Again, I am sorry Danny, but your Doctor did not reply back to us." I then replied in a very serious but sarcastic tone "I should be okay for 24 hours without my insulin right?" He looked at me, stumbled and stuttered his words "da de da...." I replied "I am just kidding with you, I have a drop or two left at my house that will hopefully get me through the night."
My pharmacist and Doctor are both awesome people. Whom ever is to blame (including myself) for the mix up is lucky I had a 1/16 of a bottle of insulin left.
