Im 17, I have juvenile diabetes, and I am alone.

I am coming up to my senior year in high school, I have suffered with my diabetes for nine years, alone. There are no other diabetics in my school, the only ones i know are from my personal heaven, Camp Sweeney. I know there are millions of others out there with the same problem, i just cant find them!

Good point Danny. Lindsey is not alone and never will be with the people that she can reach on this site. That being said, you have made a hugely important first step. My son is 17, diagnosed at age 10. Looks over my should all the time to see who I am talking to and what I am talking about. Both here and on facebook.

The day that he steps on this site himself will be a great day. I will know that for certain he is ready to take this "D" challenge all on his own and I will become just the sidekick to help him out.

Camp Sweeney, this site, whatever.... do whatever is needed to keep up to do date and in touch with what you can achieve. If you would like to touch base with another 17 year old, let me know. I am sure that my son would be OK to get in touch by email.

I was the only diabetic in my school until I reached 9th grade, and I've had it since I was 2. Unfortunately I and this other girl didn't really have the same interests and she didn't come across as a very nice person. So I know how you feel. I went to a camp in Florida at Lake winona for 3 years That's the only time I interacted with other type 1's for a prolonged amount of time..Still to this day I don't know any type 1's personally.I meet type 2's all the time, but we all know that's entirely different.

Connect with the group that Danny suggested. I also went to Camp Sweeney (late 70s and 80s). The friends I made there remain some of my closest friends. Make the connection last past camp. Two camp friends were my bridesmaids.
