Hi,

I am looking into getting an insulin pump sometime in the near future and have some concerns regarding reliability.

So have any of your pumpers had any issues with pump failures? Infusion set issues etc?

Thanks,

C

I have had a pump for over a year now and have had no issues with either my pump or sets.

Yhe link you have is from a lawyers web site. They will find fault with anything. While pumps are electronic devices, and while any device can have it's faults, I am comfortable with using my pump and would not ever choose to go back to shots.

If you search the name Stephen Krueger, you can read about what happened to him. He died in his sleep after his MM pump emptied into him. His pump was returned to MM by Health Canada and MM sent it back without looking at it.

I got an Animas Ping last summer. After starting the pump, I had a ton of lows. It ended up breaking & Animas replaced it in Jan. Right about the time it was replaced, someone posted in the Animas group complaining about 16 units being left in the cartridge when the pump said it was empty. I almost told him he was wrong because my cartridge was always empty. When my new pump came, I found out he was right. I didn't know that there should have been insulin left in the cartridge so did not know to question it - you guessed it, those extra 16 units were being dumped into me. The pump that was replaced in Jan died 2 months later. I quit pumping then.

check out the group Omnipod Users and the discussion "Does Omnipod have any quality control at all" and you will see the problems pod users have with that system.........
