just started a 10 week rotation at a new clinic. my instructor works 10 hour days with no lunch break. makes life difficult for me and the D. also the family i'm living with are vegetarian/vegans, totally different than my normal lowcarb diet. its difficult to fit a normal busy life that i dont have total control over and the need for a regular schedule. hopefully week 2 will go better.

Sucks for your instructor! Follow a schedule and be only as flexible as you can, your health is worth more than a career.

Don't let anyone else dictate for you what you need, stand your ground and if they don't respect you for it, then it's time for a change!

Diabetes is all about you and your good habits. Unless he is a disorganized mess, he should appreciate your proposing a schedule that prevents BG issues. I was raised by 7th day adventists - longest lived population in the U. S. and all vegitarian. You will have to provide some education for them. Maybe there is a middle ground with eggs, fish, cheese?

yah i've been buying some of my own food and bringing meat and cheese to work. I've got nothing against vegetarian, just not a diet that i'm used to at all, so its quite the change. today i just sat down around noontime and ate. no big problem. i mean really i think that most people should get 30 minutes in the middle of the day to just gather their thoughts... the CGM is helping to keep any major lows at bay, so that is a blessing cuz i was sitting in the classroom 40 hours a week and now up on my feet. big change....

Congratulations on advancing with your program! Just want you to know I'm not currently a vegitarian...farm and butcher up the street, yum. Nothing wrong with the veggie thing but take my advice - if something has been created by your host family that they keep in a mason jar - it's far from edible. Just like the Atkins folks, some vegans are pretty certain they know the only correct diet. Not everything I was fed as a child was healthy - after all velveeta "cheese" was invented by a vegan.
