Moving down the scale and using less insulin

My Weight Watcher's journey has been a slow, but steady road to a thinner me. With a loss of 18 lbs so far, I'm well within a healthy BMI range and down to size 9 clothes - fairly small for my almost 6' height. I had originally set a goal of a total loss of 23 lbs, but I'm thinking if I change that goal to 33 lbs, I'll hit a BMI of 22. Perhaps I should just get to that first goal (5 lbs away!) and see how it goes from there.

Anyhow, I wanted to share with other insulin users out there that by following the WW's Momentum plan, with a focus on what they call "filling foods", I've ended up reducing my total daily insulin on average by 30%. The filling foods are pretty much what dieticians tell you to eat - whole grains, lots of fruit and vegetables, low fat dairy, lean protein and small amounts of healthy oils. I've been spreading my caloric intake into 5-6 smaller meals per day. This, with a slight increase in my exercise routine has been great for keeping stable bgls along with watching my clothing get mysteriously too big for me.

Dinner last night:

Pasta with Beet Greens

Wash, trim and slice up a big bunch of fresh beet greens
Saute with a bit of olive oil, along with a handful or two of cherry tomatos, sliced in halves
Season as desired
Toss into 3 cups of cooked whole wheat penne pasta
Toss in 2 sliced hard boiled eggs
Sprinkle with crumbled fat-free feta cheese

Plate up a serving for yourself and someone you're sweet on.

Enjoy a plate of heaven.

Where I live, Weight Watchers is $25. to register, then around $16 per meeting. Or if you buy several weeks at a time, the price is lower per meeting. Every so often, there are sign up weeks where the registration fee is waived.

Congrats on your success toward reaching your goal. It is a great feeling but it is not easy, so, good job!

Hello Maureen: :)

Good job on losing the weight. It can be frustrating since most Folks think they should continually lose a lot of weight. Slow but sure is however the recommended way of losing weight and keeping it off. My Endo said my BMI is 22.5. I suppose I could stand to lose a few pounds now.

Thanks for the meal idea. It sounds Good except I don't do boiled eggs even though I know they are healthy. :P
Good luck on your end Goal.
