TuDiabetes - A Community for People Touched by Diabetes

Hey guys, i'm doing a realist painting of an interpretation of type 1 Diabetes before the discovery of insulin, and how it effected people. I was wondering if anyone knows of any pictures or source material I could use?? thanks

Jill

There are some really cool articles/pictures from old newspapers that google has in its news search. Since there was no real treatment for Diabetes, there were a lot of hucksters trying to sell kidney pills and whatnot. They had tons of print ads.

Here are a few examples. Hope this gives you a resource:

I'm pretty sure that before the discovery and administration of insulin, if you were a type 1, you just wasted away and died.

wasting, coma, death...
