I was curious as to how different each BG meter has changed over the last 20 years since I was DX'd and this is what I have found. going from my first meter to the latest, I don't remember all of them, but most are here.

The One Touch 2 Meter, awe I miss the simpleness of it, it took 45 seconds for the results to show up.

The Dex (I hated this thing, the test strips would always jam in the meter.)

The Freestyle Lite (I use this more often than I use the Ping because I like the light feature that helps you see where you are putting the blood on the strip late at night.)

I still have the One Touch Profile (which took 45 seconds) meter with expired glucose strips under my bed. I tested the accuracy of the expired strips (expired 2001) against The One touch Ultra and they were within a few points of each other, funny.

My first blood glucose meter had to be carried in a huge briefcase, I remember my mom paying big bucks for it... it was not very travel friendly. My uncle would call me "Little man with a briefcase."

Before I actually had my own blood glucose meter, I would put my blood on a strip, wait for it to dry and pray it turned light blue (light blue was good dark blue/purple was bad)...does anyone else remember having to do this process? I believe this time frame fell between urine testing and glucose meter testing (early 80's).
