have you checked you 1-2-3 hr post meals. And befor lunch and dinner to get a good idea. Did you get just a fasting done? Did you get a A1C done?
Yep they have what they call Pre-diabetes. But be aware to that stresss can up your BS too. So that can cause elevated Pre looking diabetes. How old are you, and you said your weight is at a good weight. Hum.. I would check your BS more often and get a A1C done..if you are Pre Diabetic , then you need to cut out some of the carbs, the more starchy ones, and you can do this with the meter, see how foods raise your BS and get rid of them or sub them for healthy ones.
I believe you can reverse the Pre-Diabetes, and not let it go, and end up with full blown type 2. Not everyone is lucky enough to catch it like your Dr did. so feel lucky:)

LADA is a real possibilty. Of course, LADA is not pre-diabetes. Good doctor to check for this because most assume an adult is T2 & too many people are misdiagnosed. There are also thin T2s.

Pre-diabetic is like a little bit pregnant.

107-130 fasting? Sounds like it to me. If you already eat right, exercise etc then you might need to take medication. See an endocrinologist. Who was it that told you you have pre-D?

Pre-diabetes if often used as a synonym for metabolic syndrome or early type 2 -- but without more tests, it would be hard to know exactly what is going on. If you have anti-beta-cell antibodies, then you would be LADA. If you have no anti-beta-cell antibodies but elevated insulin and/or elevated c-peptides, that means that your body is cranking out insulin but your cells are becoming insulin resistant (the hallmark of type 2 diabetes).

A hemoglobin A1C test and some other tests are in order to figure out what is going on. If you are LADA you can prolong the "honeymoon" phase sometimes with insulin injections. If you are T2 you can also do a lot of good by taking metformin sooner rather than later, if you can tolerate it.

"Eating right", "exercise" and "a good weight" are all somewhat subjective.

You're probably already pretty in-the-know as you have a T1 child, but the best diet for a growing child with T1 is not usually the best diet for an adult with T2 -- for example, you might tolerate a lot fewer carbs and find them harder to correct for, even with insulin injections (due to the insulin resistance that is the main feature of T2) than a growing child with T1 (with no insulin resistance.)

If you were to go on a low carb program, make sure you're getting the metabolic equivalent of a one-hour brisk walk, five to six days per week (less time if you jog, for example), keep your BMI under 25 and get good-quality rest (eight per night on a regular schedule is a good target) then you may find that you can keep T2 at bay for years if not decades (that is, you might still develop T2 but perhaps when your seventy, not now.)

Of course, the operative word in that last sentence was may. World-wide, some small number of thin, super-fit triathletes, marathon runners, dancers and bike racers develop T2 every year. Some people just lose the genetic lottery on diabetes.

I'm over 40...family dr did the fasting test and said pre-d and to recheck in 1 yr.....right....my bmi is fine.....I already made an appointment with my daughters endo, pa....T 2 Doesn't run in the family....I had a great uncle that died of T1 in his 40's...the only thing that makes sense to me is 1.5....I have check my #'s through the day...i have low symptom under 90...and after lunch today i ate extra carbs just to see....i had high symptoms, but i didn't check my #'s....I normally eat a lower carb meal with higher proten, that may be why i havn't noticed before...

You're on the right track - when I received my prediabetes diagnosis many years ago my Dr didn't say much other than I needed to keep trying to lose weight. I left the Dr office with a so what attitude, after all it was just 'pre' whatever so it wasn't anything to worry about.

Fast forward five years and I get my dx for diabetes, now I start to check into it and from what I've learned in a few short weeks, I realize that pre-diabetes doesn't mean that I was just at increased risk, rather pre-diabetes is at least a hormone imbalance impacting my health.

I'm still learning, not much advise I can offer, other than offering a congratulations for being smarter than me and from the little I have learned, being proactive in your treatment, even if it's just adjusting your diet, is much healthier short and long term.

If my daugher wasn't T1,I'm sure i wouldn't think much of either....your right, the drs office didn't make much of a deal about it either...a phone call saying to eat less carbs, more proten and exercise...they never asked what my habits were, or even noted that my daugher was T1....i don't even think they checked to see that i was already was, and always have been, at my ideal weight....i hate it when i'm smarter than the dr's....once all my testing is done at the endo, i'm going to go back and educate the office...
