I don't know about everyone esle but I did not do too well these holidays with eating. I know some drug addicts and it is hard for them to resist their drug of choice. Well it is very difficult for me to resist some foods. I guess I am saying food is my drug.

Well, I planned to pig out going out to dinner with friends on Christmas day. I ate bread, salad, a filet mignon, and tiramisu. I went up to 236 7 hours after dinner (I knew I was going to stay up all night checking, too), and have been riding near 140 all day. But it's finally starting to come down. I gave myself permission to do this because I don't do it very often, and I am right back where I'm supposed to be, food-wise, today. I may do it on New Year's and on my birthday in March, but otherwise, I'm good, and have no trouble resuming what I know is healthy for me.

It's scientifically established that carbs in the body create a craving for more carbs. The more you avoid them, the less you will want them. I prepare for holiday events by really cutting back on carbs for the rest of the day (not FOOD, just carbs), and then deciding which ONE thing I REALLY can't live without, and choosing that (this time it was pumpkin pie). Don't beat yourself up about it now, just move on: but in the future, remember, a little planning can make you feel much more empowered.

I actually did pretty well until I went out for Tempura. My blood sugar rose and rose. Topped out at 309 nine hours after the tempura. I didn't even eat after 3 pm that day because I kept waiting for my bs to go down. Round 1am it dropped to 134. Still don't understand why it did that but I will never eat tempura again.

Kathyann, it's most likely the fat. Tempura, as you know, is deep-fried, and therefore very fatty. You might also have underdosed for it. One tip, when eating fatty foods, is to use a square wave bolus if you're on a pump, or a small extra shot 4 - 6 hours after eating the food.
